<br />Commission Minutes--June 21,2004 <br /> <br />2740 <br /> <br />According to Ms. deSilva, funding for the four-year project is provided by the United States <br />Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service. The last <br />phase of the study will provide an assessment of the economic impacts of the waffle plan as <br />compared to past flooding events and other flood control measures or inaction. She said <br />data collected from the study will be available for use by other agencies. <br /> <br />11. TAX EQUALIZATION BOARD, Reconvened for 2004 <br />The 2004 Board of Tax Equalization reconvened, and Frank Klein, Director of Equalization, <br />referred to his letter addressed to the board dated June 11, 2004. Mr. Klein said he is still <br />reviewing information with local assessment officials on the five appeals heard at the last <br />meeting, and he will be prepared to make recommendations at the July 6th meeting. His <br />June 11th letter includes recommendations to equalize the assessments of cities and <br />townships, and notices of the proposed increases were sent to the affected jurisdictions. <br /> <br />Also, Mr. Klein said three landowners have applied for the inundated land classification <br />allowed under State law. He said the county board has approved these same applications <br />for a number of years and he is recommending their approval today. <br /> <br />Mrs. Sorum asked if there was anyone in the audience who wished to address the board on <br />the matter of tax equalization.
