result of collaboration with a variety of Faith groups, school systems, child care centers,
community organizations and other interested groups. We also offer, as a result of the
number of requests coming in to the PRC regarding specific topics, classes sponsored
solely by the PRC on a continual basis. Anger, grandparenting issues, and children
spending time alone are examples of class topics offered.

B.

General Proiect Information
(You may attach supplemental pages to answer these questions.)

1.

Project title:
PARENTING RESOURCES CENTER

2.

Briefly list the project's goal(s).
THE PARENTING RESOURCES CENTER WORKS TOWARDS THE FOLLOWING
GOAL:

THE PARENT RESOURCES CENTER WILL PROVIDE RESEARCH BASED,
PERTINENT PARENT EDUCATION CLASSES TO RESIDENTS OF REGION V AND
WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT PARENTS IN REGION V THROUGH GENERAL
INFORMATION VIA TELEPHONE, RESOURCE LIBRARY, DISPLAYS AND THE
MONTHLY NEWSLETTER.

3.

Briefly summarize the project and the health need it seeks to address. Please
include objective evidence (data, statistics, etc.) of the clear and compelling need
for the proposed project.
THE PARENTING RESOURCES CENTER SEEKS TO PROVIDE EDUCATION TO
PARENTS ON PERTINENT TOPICS IN SUCH A WAY THAT IT IS APPLICABLE TO
DAILY LIFE AND PARENTAL STRESSES. THE NORTH DAKOTA KIDS COUNT
REPORTS THAT 81% OF NORTH DAKOTA WOMEN WITH CHILDREN AGES 0 -17
ARE IN THE WORK FORCE AND 76% OF WOMEN WITH CHILDREN AGES 0 TO 5
ARE IN THE WORK FORCE. THIS INFORMATION REMINDS US THAT PARENTS
ARE IN NEED OF WAYS TO MAKE THE TIME SPENT WITH CHILDREN QUALITY
TIME. IT ALSO STRESSES THE NEED FOR AGENCIES SUCH AS THE PARENTING
RESOURCES CENTER TO BALANCE GOOD INFORMATION WITH SUPPORT.
PARENTAL INFORMATION NEEDS TO BE PROVIDED IN AN EFFICIENT AND USER
FRIENDLY WAY TO ENCOURAGE PARENTS TO DO THE BEST JOB POSSIBLE IN
GUIDING AND RAISING THEIR CHILDREN. THIS INFORMATION ALSO REMINDS
US THAT CHILDREN ARE BEING CARED FOR BY CHILDCARE PROFESSIONALS,
GRANDPARENTS, RELATIVES AND FRIENDS MAKING PARENTING RESOURCES
NECESSARY FOR ADULTS WHO WORK WITH CHILDREN IN A CHILD REARING
ROLE AS WELL AS THEIR PARENTS.
