<br />8. <br /> <br />Organization's primary funding sources over the past three years: <br />*REGION V CHILDREN'S SERVICES COORDINATNG COMMITTEE (CSCC) <br />*NDSU EXTENSION SERVICE <br />*NORTH DAKOTA DEPARTMENTOF HUMAN SERVICES SUBSTANCE ABUSE <br />PREVENTION <br />*NORTH DAKOTA DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES, FAMILY RESOURCE <br />NETWORK <br />*CASS COUNTY GOVERNMENT <br /> <br />9. <br /> <br />Organization's major activities and past significant accomplishments: <br />The PRC provides a variety of quality, research - based parenting education <br />opportunities to families and professionals in Region V including Ransom, Richland, <br />Sargent, Steele, and Trail! counties in SE North Dakota. 1,159 adults attended <br />parenting opportunities in the program year 2002-2003. <br /> <br />A monthly newsletter "Parenting Essentials & Extras" is sent out to approximately 1,000 <br />people per month providing parents and professionals current parenting information as <br />well as information on upcoming classes, events, a sample of additional support groups <br />for parents in the area, resources in the lending library and the web address. The <br />newsletter is also currently available on our web site. <br /> <br />Parenting Pipeline, a monthly newsletter for parents of children in grades K, 2, 4and 6, is <br />sent out to approximately 5,653 parents in Region V. <br /> <br />The PRC Lending Library is available to parents, college students and professionals, <br />providing numerous parenting videos, book, curriculums, family games, and children's <br />books for free check out as tools to strengthen parenting skills and promote learning in <br />the area of family dynamics. Approximately 25 people per month check out books from <br />the library, many others choose to use the library materials on - site. <br /> <br />The PRC has a public website made available to parents, professionals and <br />organizations informing them of available resources in the library, upcoming classes and <br />a copy of the current newsletter. <br /> <br />The PRC handles general parenting questions over the telephone, in person and <br />through mailing requested materials such as parenting bulletins and informational <br />handouts. <br /> <br />Educational displays and handouts are provided for many community events including <br />parent and health fairs, substance abuse prevention events throughout the area, <br />conferences, and numerous collaborative activities with community partners. <br /> <br />The Region V Parenting Resources Center provides specialized classes/inservices per <br />request to daycare providers and programs such as the Last Chance Program with the <br />Department of Corrections and North Dakota Job Service. <br /> <br />The PRC provides child care and transportation to families needing this assistance in <br />order to attend parenting classes. <br /> <br />Classes are continually being offered in various neighborhoods and school districts in <br />Fargo and West Fargo as well Region V as a whole.
