Commission Minutes-May 18, 2009 3515 <br />6. VETERAN'S SERVICE OFFICER, Interview schedule for candidates <br />Commissioners discussed possible dates to hold interviews for the Veteran's Service Officer <br />position. The deadline is May 22"d for commissioners to turn in their scoring results on <br />written exams for five candidates. Mrs. Sorum said candidates have to score 80% or higher <br />on the written exams in order to be interviewed. <br />Commissioners agreed to hold interviews on Tuesday, June 2"d, beginning at 9:00 AM. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to schedule interviews for <br />the Veteran's Service Officer on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 from 9:00 AM to <br />3:00 PM. Motion carried. <br />7. PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Richard Lewis, resident of Fargo and former employee of the Highway Department, was <br />present. He does not support the county providing the 15% local share for the flood <br />buyouts. He feels it is unfair to other county citizens to use taxpayer dollars for the buyouts. <br />8. VOUCHERS, Approved <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to approve Voucher No. <br />235,801 through Voucher No. 236,330. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />9. BUILDING COMMITTEE; LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL STUDY RESOLUTION; GFMEDC, <br />Committee reports <br />Mr. Wagner said the Building Committee continues to meet monthly and Consultant Dennis <br />Kimme will present his final space needs analysis report to the commission on June 1St <br />Mr. Montplaisir said the legislative council will meet on Wednesday, May 20th to consider <br />studies during the interim period. Senator Tim Mathern called him last week to encourage <br />the county to contact the council and request a study be done on Senate Bill 2370, <br />regarding indigent defense/mental health commitment costs. He will draft a response to <br />send to the legislative council members from Cass County. <br />Mr. Vanyo and Mr. Wagner attended a meeting of the West Fargo City Commission a few <br />weeks ago for discussion on a memorandum of understanding between West Fargo and <br />Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Corporation (GFMEDC). The city <br />commission approved the memorandum of understanding on a 3-2 vote. <br />10. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Pawluk moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to receive and file <br />correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. <br />- letter from FEMA regarding information on disposition of temporary levees <br />constructed during the flood event (copy referred to county engineer); <br />- letter from the Department of the Army, Corps of Engineers regarding removal of <br />temporary emergency work constructed during the flood event (copy referred to <br />county engineer); <br />
