Rules and Regulations: <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Deputies assigned county vehicles will be considered on 24-hour call, <br />except during vacation, suspension or sick leave. <br />Deputies may be called out at any time to answer an emergency, <br />incident or to stand by at any complaint or accident until the assigned <br />and on duty deputy arrives and relieves the deputy. <br />On duty deputies will inform the dispatcher of their location for 101 ' s. <br />Employees will not operate a county vehicle for a reasonable time <br />subsequent to consuming alcoholic beverages when use might impair <br />their judgment or reactions. <br />Cass County vehicles will not leave the county except for official <br />business and in the performance of duty. (Pursuit will be an exception <br />but, only after receiving permission from the on duty supervisor). <br />Deputies driving to and from work or while attending training should <br />not assume any special privileges while operating the county vehicle <br />and will follow all traffic laws unless taking appropriate action in <br />protecting life and property, preventing crime, or effecting and/or <br />assisting other law enforcement officers or agencies. <br />Cass County Sheriff s Office personnel will not operate a county <br />vehicle/squad while under the influence of alcohol or while impaired <br />by the consumption of alcoholic beverage or drugs. <br />Only Cass County Sheriff s Office personnel are permitted to operate <br />Cass County Sheriff s Office vehicles except in emergency situations <br />or when authorized by the Sheriff or his designee. <br />Any deputy or personnel driving a Cass County Sheriff s Office <br />vehicle will exercise good judgment it utilizing the vehicle and will not <br />drive or use the vehicle in any way that will cause unfavorable <br />comment or discredit the Cass County Sheriff s Office. <br />Any deputy off duty for more than 2 days will leave their assigned <br />vehicle at the main office of the Cass County Sheriffs Office. <br />Squad assignments are made, modified and terminated at the sole <br />discretion of the Sheriff. <br />All employees who operate a county vehicle will maintain a current <br />and valid North Dakota license and carry it at all times when operating <br />a county vehicle. <br />Cass County Sheriff s Office vehicles will only be used to jump <br />another Cass County Sheriff s Office vehicle. <br />Office of Professional Standards and supervisors will have the <br />responsibility to monitor the driving habits of all employees to insure <br />consistency, safe operation and proper response.
