POLICY: <br /> <br />All Cass County Sheriff Office employees will operate county vehicles with due regard for <br />the safety of all persons and in a manner that is consistent with North Dakota law and the <br />ordinances of Cass County. <br /> <br />II. PURPOSE: <br /> <br />To establish a standard policy for the use of Cass County vehicles. <br /> <br />III. PROCEDURAL GUIDELINES: <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />Maintenance of County Vehicle: <br /> <br />The maintenance and general up keep of assigned squads is the responsibility <br />of the assigned deputy. It is the deputy's responsibility to ensure the regular <br />eminence is accomplished through routine servicing and that other problems <br />that may arise with the unit are immediately attended to. <br /> <br />\., <br /> <br />1. Patrol and Unmarked squads: <br /> <br />\., <br /> <br />a. <br /> <br />Deputies will inspect their assigned vehicle prior to starting <br />each shift. They will report any damage or repair needs to their <br />supervisor. If equipped, traffic control lights and first <br />responder kits should also be checked. Oxygen should be <br />checked monthly. <br />All county squads are subject to inspection at any time. <br />Once a year a complete inspection of the deputy's assigned <br />vehicle will have a complete inspection. <br />Gas pump slips will be place on the assigned administrative <br />secretary's desk. Each deputy should hand write their unit <br />number, squad number and mileage on the gas slip when <br />turning it in. <br />The general appearance of squad cars marked or unmarked and <br />the manner in which there are operated is an important part of <br />public relations for Cass County.
