<br />Commission Minutes-May 5, 2008 3355 <br /> <br />and assisted with much of the clean up efforts. She said the county has a $2,500 <br />deductible and costs for new pipe and installation will exceed the deductible. The largest <br />expense will be for mechanical services. She said time spent on the project by <br />maintenance staff was documented for insurance purposes. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson praised the three maintenance staff who worked on this project, Gene <br />Gartner, Jason Smith and Jerry Johnson, for their work. She also thanked Professional <br />Building Services for their clean up efforts. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson said hairline cracks were found in another section of cast iron pipe between <br />the basement kitchen and mechanical area, which will be replaced this Saturday, May 10th, <br />rather than closing the building during the week. Gene Gartner will work with the <br />contractors on Saturday. <br /> <br />7. HEAD START BUILDING PURCHASE AGREEMENT, Update <br />Mr. Pawluk requested an update on the purchase agreement for the former Head Start <br />building. Michael Montplaisir, County Auditor, said an agreement was drafted by the state's <br />attorney and sent to Lloyd Sampson, whose bid was accepted by the county. Mr. Sampson <br />reviewed the document and submitted a few revisions. According to the county auditor, Mr. <br />Sampson has requested a zoning change through the City of Fargo Planning Office. Mr. <br />Pawluk asked Mr. Montplaisir to keep in contact with the Fargo Planning Office regarding <br />this issue. <br /> <br />Birch Burdick, State's Attorney, said within the next day he will review the revised <br />agreement, and he anticipates the document will be signed by mid-week. He said closing <br />on the property is contingent upon approval of the re-zoning request. The closing is to be <br />completed within 60 days after signing the agreement. <br /> <br />8. BUILDING COMMITTEE UPDATE <br />Mr. Wagner said the commission approved a contract addendum with Foss Architecture and <br />Interiors on November 19, 2007, for a west addition to the Courthouse. The addendum <br />allowed the planning process to begin on creation of new schematic designs. He said <br />space consultants conducted initial interviews with departments in March. They scheduled <br />a follow-up visit last week and have toured and photographed offices at the Courthouse and <br />Annex. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner said the next meeting of the building committee is scheduled for June 11, 2008, <br />at which time he hopes to have received comments from the consultants. <br /> <br />9. VOUCHERS, Approved <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve Voucher No. <br />226,220 through Voucher No. 226,484. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />10.
