Commission Minutes-May 5, 2008 3354 REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MAY 5, 2008 1. MEETING CALLED TO ORDER Chairman Ken Pawluk called the meeting to order at 3:30 PM with all members present as follows: Scott Wagner, Darrell Vanyo, Robyn Sorum, Vern Bennett and Ken Pawluk. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Vern Bennett led the Pledge of Allegiance. 3. MINUTES APPROVED MOTION, passed Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Bennett seconded that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. 4. AGENDA, Order approved MOTION, passed Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to approve the order of the agenda. Motion carried. 5. CONSENT AGENDA APPROVED MOTION, passed Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to approve the consent agenda as follows: On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. a. Approve list of 2008 election inspectors provided by the county auditor. b. Receive and file Lost Instrument Bond for Pat Connor and authorize the county auditor and county treasurer to issue a duplicate check. c. Grant final plat approval to Prairie Sky Subdivision in Section 35, Township 137N, Range 49W in Cass County, North Dakota. d. Authorize the chairman to sign a quit claim deed for road right-of-way with Clinton and Mary Jo Olmstead upon receipt and subject to state's attorney concurrence. e. Discontinue spring load restrictions for Cass County highways on May 14, 2008. 6. CASS COUNTY ANNEX PLUMBING ISSUES, Cause. cost and repairs Bonnie Johnson, County Administrator, provided an update on the plumbing failure which occurred on April 28, 2008, at the Cass County Annex. She said a 40 foot section of plumbing pipe broke in the basement break room. The section of pipe is cast iron and part of the original structure built about 40 years ago. The failure was caused by two areas of pipe plugged with feminine hygiene products. She said Grant's Mechanical was called immediately and water was shut off to the building with plans to repair the problem by noon that day. After further inspection, it was determined to be a larger project than anticipated, and the building was closed for the remainder of the day for repairs to be completed. Mrs. Johnson said the county insurance adjuster was contacted and has surveyed the damage. The carpet and tile in the break room were removed and the space was sterilized and sanitized by a cleaning company. The maintenance staff installed new tile in the area
