Deichman, Programming <br /> <br />Project Description: <br />· Significant addition to a relatively new county courthouse (designed in 1995) in <br />one of the fastest growing counties in the United States. <br />· To estimate growth needs, conducted data analysis and projections of multiple <br />sets of court data, including examination of daily dockets and court flow. <br />· Assessment of existing facilities and their ability to be expanded and altered in <br />phases to eventually meet year 2030 needs. <br />· Evaluation of several facility expansion options developed in the context of an <br />overall site master plan for multiple county facilities, roadways and parking. <br />· Detail space programming for an addition of nine courtrooms and 125,000 <br />square feet consistent with the minimum standards of the lllinois Supreme Court. <br />The existing courthouse has three courtrooms and 57,000 square feet. <br />· The space program and design meets the needs for courtrooms, the circuit clerk, <br />the states attorney, court services, the public defender, the court administrator, <br />the jury commission, the law library, and court security. <br />· The twelve courtrooms will provide design responsive to the distinctive needs of <br />criminal, civil, juvenile and high volume traffic/criminal intake courts. <br />· TIle addition was designed to complement and enhance the distinct appearance of <br />the existing courthouse. <br />· The second floor of the addition is shelled in the first phase, and is designed to <br />flexibly meet expansion needs to 2030. The initial design accommodates needs <br />to 2015, providing three additional courtrooms, and provides shelled expansion <br />space for various departments in the courthouse. <br />
