Commission Minutes-August 13, 2007 3258 There was discussion about the four remaining Social Service staff requests in order of priority. MOTION, passed Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded to remove the A12 Temporary Clerk from the Social Services budget in the amount of $27,252. On roll call vote, the motion carried with three members voting "Yes" and Mrs. Sorum and Mr. Bennett voting "No". The 2008 budget includes $12,000 for an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and $10,000 for crisis management in the Social Services budget. Mr. Vanyo does not see the need for both and suggested one of the items be eliminated. Mrs. Hogan is willing to remove the funds for crisis management and use the EAP program, which would be available to all county employees. MOTION, passed Mr. Vanyo moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to remove $10,000 for crisis management from the Social Services budget. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. The commission considered the additional items provided by Mrs. Hogan. MOTION, passed Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded to reduce the sponsorship line item by $20,000 from the Social Services budget. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. MOTION, passed Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded to remove $13,200 for voice activated dictation equipment from the Social Services budget. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. MOTION, passed Mr. Pawluk moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to remove $4,750 for parent aide client travel; $27,300 for 28 computer and software replacements; $10,000 for truancy grant; and $5,000 for scheduling software from the Social Services budget. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. MOTION, passed Mr. Vanyo moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to reduce staff development/training by $13,150 from the Social Services budget. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. The board discussed other possible budget cuts in various departments. MOTION, passed Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded to remove $40,000 for one air handler replacement in the Buildings and Grounds budget. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Mr. Pawluk asked the Sheriff's Department about possible cuts to vehicle requests for next year. Chief Deputy Jim Thoreson was present and offered two items.
