<br />Commission Minutes-August 13, 2007 3256 <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded to remove $5,000 for <br />purchase of a trailer from the 2008 preliminary Election budget. On <br />roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Bennett suggested cutting election worker pay, but still providing an increase. <br />He said approximately $25,000 may be saved by using $9.00 rather than $11.00 <br />per hour. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Bennett moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to pay all election <br />workers $9.00 per hour. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Vanyo moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve the 2008 <br />preliminary budget for elections. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />The board took a break at 3:00 PM and reconvened at 3:08 PM with all members <br />present. <br /> <br />19. EXTENSION SERVICES <br />Brad Cogdill, Extension Service Agent, was present. The request for 2008 is $479,974 <br />compared to $431,667 budgeted last year. He said the major increases are due to <br />salary and benefit costs, computer replacements and copier replacement. He said the <br />county and NDSU participate in a 50% cost share for computer replacements. <br /> <br />The board asked about the necessity of purchasing a new copier. Mr. Cogdill said the <br />machine is five or six years old and he received a recommendation to replace it; <br />however, the copier is functioning well at this time. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to remove $13,350 for a <br />copier replacement in the Extension Services budget. On roll call <br />vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded to approve the 2008 <br />preliminary budget for Extension Services. On roll call vote, the <br />motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />20. NEW EMPLOYEE AND EQUIPMENT REQUESTS <br />The board discussed new employee requests from departments and made the following <br />changes: <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Vanyo moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to remove the A11 <br />Intake/File Clerk from the State's Attorney budget. On roll call vote, <br />the motion carried unanimously. <br />
