<br /> Policy Number: Number of Pages: <br /> CASS COUNTY JAIL <br />POLICIES AND PROCEDURES <br />Chapter: <br />COURTHOUSE SECURITY OPERATIONS <br />Subject: Effective Date: <br /> ENTRY PROTOCOL <br /> <br />SUBJECT: ENTRY <br /> <br />PURPOSE <br /> <br />This policy and procedure was established to formalize and standardize the screening of <br />Cass County Employees and non-employees entering the Cass County Courthouse and <br />the Cass County Annex. Security Personnel will remain on post unless another officer <br />relieves them. <br /> <br />SECURITY PERSONNEL <br /> <br />Security Personnel are defined as sworn Cass County Sheriff s Deputies. <br /> <br />METHODS OF SCREENING <br /> <br />Magnetometers, X-Ray Machines, Hand Held Detectors, Visual Observations, Inspection <br />and search and other sensory detection. <br /> <br />WHO IS SUBECT TO SEARCH <br /> <br />All persons entering the building (s) are subject to security screening. All items brought <br />into the building are subject to inspection and search at the officer's discretion. <br /> <br />General exception to this rule will include any Cass County Employee in possession of <br />official credentials or identification and whose place of work is located in any Cass <br />County Building. These employees may bypass the standard screening procedure. <br /> <br />All other persons, including contractors and vendors can be subject to security screening <br />of their persons and any items or material they may have with them. <br /> <br />SCREENING OF PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED PERSONS <br /> <br />Persons on crutches, in wheelchairs, on stretchers, or wearing prosthetic aids, etc., shall <br />be individually screened. Within reason and discretion, security personnel conduction the <br />screening or search should use a hand held metal detector and/or conduct a physical <br />search. The person will be escorted through or around the screening post. Hand held <br />items will be screened in the normal manner. <br />
