This will ssist in
ensuring the safety of students and staff of our Cass County Rural School District .

Three of the seven rural Cass County schools have already made significant contr butions to
this project by purchasing and installing video security systems. These systems a e designed to
record events at building entrances, hallways, and other common areas such as lu chrooms.
These systems use digital video recorders that can store up to a month of data and provide
video monitors in areas that are usually staffed.

The primary components of this project include:

· Purchase 54 cameras for video security systems for the four remaining Ca s County
Rural Schools that have never installed video security systems and purcha e 28 cameras
for existing systems where additional problem areas have been identified.

· The project will also install two intercom systems in the two rural schools that have no
means to warn or advise staff and students of serious incidents occurring ithin their
schools.

· One rural school, Northern Cass, is not located in a community and stands alone in
rural Cass County. This project will add an access control system to restri t public
access to their school and provide secure access by their staff.

There are approximately 2,458 students in the Cass County Rural Schools that thi grant will
help protect. This project will enable each school district and the Cass County Sh riff s Office
to more effectively and efficiently respond to and prevent school related crimes. n the event a
crime occurs, this project can aid in the apprehension of those responsible and res ore order.
With the increasing occurrences of school related violence, utilizing the technolo y available
in the areas of surveillance and communication are essential.

The entire project is projected to be completed and functional by July 2008.
