<br />Consolidated Plans are required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban <br />Development. They are an assessment of the housing needs of the lowest income <br />households (less than 30% of median income) as well as workforce households <br />(50-80% of median income). Funding will need to be sought from the respective <br />state small cities CDBG programs to add the additional jurisdictions. <br /> <br />,( Establish a regional working group by resolution of each of the four <br />metro communities and the two counties that can identify areas of <br />potential cooperation and agreement. Include private sector <br />stakeholders as well. <br /> <br />The ultimate goal of the regional working group is to facilitate the production of <br />workforce housing in each community by working to address the strategic needs <br />identified as part of the Workforce Housing Study. This group can maintain the <br />momentum of the effort, obtain support for and guide their implementation. <br /> <br />Advantages. Meshing of individual housing plans and expanding the existing <br />Consolidated Planning processes currently in place recognizes a single <br />metropolitan housing market. It allows each community to establish or revise its <br />new residential development requirements, existing housing programs and policies, <br />with an understanding of how each community affects the other. <br /> <br />A regional (Public/private stakeholders) working group continues the effort to <br />facilitate the positive dialogue about workforce housing among council and <br />planning and zoning officials, developers, Realtors, lenders and major employers. <br /> <br />34 <br /> <br />Linda S, Donnelly.
