<br />Commission Minutes-August 15, 2006 3112 <br /> <br />Mr. Vanyo moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to add the $22,521 removed <br />from the correctional officer position and put it in the security overtime <br />budget. Discussion: Mr. Bennett said courthouse security is doing an <br />excellent job. He questioned if a more cost effective method for security <br />would be possible. Mr. Wagner replied contracting security out could be <br />researched again. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />6. COUNTY COORDINATOR, Travel expense <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Vanyo moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to reduce the County <br />Coordinator travel budget by $1,000. Discussion: Mrs. Johnson said the <br />2007 travel was increased to allow for training of the for the maintenance <br />department since they had no travel budget. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />7. SOCIAL SERVICES, Position cut <br />Mr. Vanyo stated the #3 position, eligibility supervisor (working poor), should be <br />removed from the 2007 Social Service budget. Mr. Pawluk said the county does not <br />want to lose experienced employees because of work load and burnout. Mr. Wagner <br />replied we need to look at overall staffing. He stated that between 40 and 50 <br />employees have been added to the Social Service Department in the past 10 to 15 <br />years. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to remove the #3 position, <br />eligibility supervisor (working poor), in the amount of $60,658 from the <br />2007 Social Service budget. On roll call vote, four members voted in <br />favor and Mr. Pawluk voted against. Motion passed. <br /> <br />8. RURAL AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION <br />Daryl Lahren, Ken Habiger, Dick Sinner, Dan Ehlan, Lynette Anderson and Mike <br />Drees were present from rural area ambulance services. Their budget request of <br />$145,000 is the same as last year. Mr. Lahren said grant money was received for <br />a paging system. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to approve the 2007 <br />preliminary budget for the Cass County Rural Ambulance Association in <br />the amount of $145,000. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />9. REGIONAL CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT UNIT <br />John Waller, Director of the Regional Child Support Enforcement Unit (RCSEU), was <br />present. He said the state is working on a centralization program, with two centralized <br />functions which have yet to be named being considered. Mr. Vanyo serves as a <br />member of the Child Support Enforcement Task Force which will meet on August 23rd. <br />He said they will be working on a budget. In the future RCSEU will be funded by the <br />state. Mr. Waller said that they have seen a reduction in overtime and the need for <br />temporary help. Centralization will create less demand as some functions will be <br />transferred out. Mr. Vanyo said the commission will be informed of costs as the <br />
