Valley will bave a veterinarian available to administer rabies <br />vaccinations as needed to claimed animals. The cost of such service shall be <br />charged to the person claiming the "nim,,] and shall be collected and retained by <br />Valley, <br /> <br />B. Lab charges for rabies testing will be billed directly to the City and <br />are not the responsibility of Valley. <br /> <br />C. All rabies suspects will be handled according city regulations. <br />-, <br /> <br />9. Rabies Vaccination Procedures <br /> <br />A. An "nim,,] that bas or is suspected of having rabies shall be <br />quarantined and held for at least ten (1.0) days. <br /> <br />B. All dogs and cats four (4),months of age or older must have a <br />current rabies vaccination before they may be released from the pound. <br /> <br />C, Acceptable proof of current rabies vaccination is only by means of: <br />1. certificate of vaccination signed by a veterinarian; <br />2. ' telephone certification from the vaccination vet clinic that <br />the "nim,,] has a current rabies vaccination. <br /> <br />D, If proof of current rabies vaccination is not available, Valley will <br />vaccinate the "nim"I, <br /> <br />E. A "currenf' rabies vaccination is defined as: <br />1. a vaccination within the last twelve (12) months if it was <br />the dog's first rabies vaccination; <br />2. within the last twenty-four (24) months if it was the dog's <br />second or mor.e rabies vaccination.. <br /> <br />F, Rabies tags alone~ are not sufficient proof of rabies vaccination.. <br /> <br />10, .A nim"l. Held for Rabies Observation ("BRO") <br />A. Animals impounded for rabies observation are held for ten (10) <br />calendar days, <br /> <br />B.
