May 3, 2006 Fargo Fire Department 637 NP Avenue Fargo, NO 58102 Dear Fire Chief: We are looking for the Fire Department's help in an upcoming picnic for Cass County Licensed Foster Families on Thursday, June 8, 2006. The enclosed flyer describes our challenge to the four fire stations to become FIRE CHEFS and cook up some delicious food for our foster parents. The foster parents will vote for the station with the best FIRE CHEFS and a trophy will be presented to that station. Our agency will contribute financially to the cost of the food purchased. In planning for a picnic with the Fireman helping with the cooking, we are aware an emergency call would take priority over the cook's plans and will make alternative arrangements in the event of an emergency. We hope you will encourage your fireman to participate in this cook-off as a community service and in providing good role models for our foster children. We would need to know by May 18th if your stations are planning to help and we would appreciate having a liaison to coordinate the effort. We would also like a fire instructor to present 45 minute class on fire safety training to foster parents and their children at Lindwood Park on the day of the picnic from 5:00pm - 5:45pm. Fire safety is an integral part of the foster care licensing process and it is important for families to review fire safety material every year.
