On roll call vote, motion carried <br /> unanimously. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS CONVENTION; REFUGEE CONFERENCE; SEMINAR REGISTRATION; <br />BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS UPDATE; INTERNET AND E-MAIL POLICY COMMITTEE; <br />VETERAN'S SERVICE OFFICE SPACE; SPECIAL COMMISSION MEETING ON FUTURE FLOOD <br />EFFORTS, Committee reports <br />Commissioners Quick, Meyer and Wieland attended the North Dakota County Commissioners and <br />County Officials Convention last week in Williston, ND. Each reported on various workshops they <br />attended and a rrc~cting with State Highway Department officials concerning Federal highway funds. <br />It was noted that next year's convention will be held in Fargo. Mr. Wieland said other Cass County <br />officials attending the convention included Michael Montplaisir, Charlotte Sandvik, Donald Rudnick, <br />Dorothy Howard and Kathy Hogan. <br /> <br />Mrs. Quick reported that Barry Nelson of Lutheran Social Services (LSS) provided information on <br />a refugee conference in Washington, D.C. on November 12-14, 1997; and LSS is willing to pay the <br />expenses if someone from the Social Services Board wishes to attend the conference. <br /> <br />Mr. Koenig received a brochure regarding an upcoming seminar entitled, "How to Conduct an <br />Internal Investigation." The seminar will be held in Fargo at the Radisson Hotel on November 12, <br />1997, and he suggested that Commissioners may wish to attend, as well as selected personnel from <br />the county. <br /> <br />Bonnie Johnson, County Coordinator, updated commissioners on building remodeling projects, <br />including painting and carpet installation at the Annex and the space occupied by the District Court <br />at the Courthouse. Proposals will be accepted from area contractors until November 4th for the <br />Veteran's Service office space on 4th floor of the Annex. <br /> <br />Mrs. Schneider reported that the Internet and E-Mail Policy Committee has held two meetings, and <br />draft policies will be provided to department heads for their input, as well as staff input. It has not <br />been determined if the policy will be included in the Personnel Policy Manual or the Commission <br />Policy Manual, however, she anticipates presenting it to the Personnel Overview Committee or the <br />County Commission in November. <br /> <br />Mr. Meyer asked Mrs. Johnson if there is any time frame for changes on specifications for Veteran's <br />Service office space. Mrs. Johnson said she sent notice to commissioners and Jim Brent, Veteran's <br />Service Officer, and incorporated the comments she received into the architectural drawings. <br /> <br /> <br />
