Commission Minutes--June 17, 1996 1486 MOTION, passed Mr. Ness moved and Mr. Wieland seconded that the 23 properties listed on Attachment 'A' to Mr. Klein's letter to the County Board of Equalization dated June 7, 1996, be assessed at the amount indicated on said attachment. Discussion: Mr. Wieland was in agreement with Mr. Klein that the Commission may need to consider a total reassessment in certain areas of the county if some properties are not raised for the year 1997. Mr. Eckert asked about the time frame on these assessments, and Mr. Klein said a person can still appeal to the State Board of Equalization if they believe their assessment is too high. Also, they can file an application for abatement and settlement of taxes. At the call for the question and on roll call vote, the motion carried with four members voting "Aye" and Mr. Eckert opposing. MOTION, passed In view of today's changes on the properties listed in Attachment 'A' of the previous motion, Mrs. Schneider moved and Mr. Ness seconded that the 20% increase in residential assessments for Eldred Township, made at the June 3rd, 1996 County Board of Equalization meeting, be rescinded. Motion carried unanimously. MOTION, passed Mrs. Schneider moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to adjourn the County Board of Tax Equalization for 1996. Motion carried unanimously. 15. EXTENSION SERVICE GRANTS, Parenting Resource Center: Family Nutrition Program Connie Weed, Cass County Extension Service, was present on behalf of Brad Cogdill, who is on developmental leave. Commissioners received copies of the grant proposals, which are for continuation of these programs. MOTION, passed Mrs. Schneider moved and Mr. Ness seconded that the Parenting Resource Center Program/Coordinator be approved pending acceptance by the granting agency and the NDSU Extension Service and its implementation for July 1, 1996-June 30, 1997 proceed according to guidelines presented in the proposal. Further, the Cass County Extension Service budget be amended to incorporate a revenue and expense budget from the following funding sources: Region V Children's Service Coordinating Committee (CSCC), Children's Trust Fund of North Dakota (CTFND) and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. MOTION, passed Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Ness seconded that the Cass County Commission support the proposal that would provide continuation of the Cass County Extension Service Family Nutrition Program from October 1, 1996-September 30, 1997, pending proposal acceptance. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously.
