Commission Minutes--June 17, 1996 1486 <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Ness moved and Mr. Wieland seconded that the 23 properties listed <br />on Attachment 'A' to Mr. Klein's letter to the County Board of <br />Equalization dated June 7, 1996, be assessed at the amount indicated <br />on said attachment. Discussion: Mr. Wieland was in agreement with Mr. <br />Klein that the Commission may need to consider a total reassessment <br />in certain areas of the county if some properties are not raised for the <br />year 1997. Mr. Eckert asked about the time frame on these <br />assessments, and Mr. Klein said a person can still appeal to the State <br />Board of Equalization if they believe their assessment is too high. <br />Also, they can file an application for abatement and settlement of taxes. <br />At the call for the question and on roll call vote, the motion carried with <br />four members voting "Aye" and Mr. Eckert opposing. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />In view of today's changes on the properties listed in Attachment 'A' of <br />the previous motion, Mrs. Schneider moved and Mr. Ness seconded <br />that the 20% increase in residential assessments for Eldred Township, <br />made at the June 3rd, 1996 County Board of Equalization meeting, be <br />rescinded. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Schneider moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to adjourn the County <br />Board of Tax Equalization for 1996. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />15. <br /> <br />EXTENSION SERVICE GRANTS, Parenting Resource Center: Family Nutrition Program <br />Connie Weed, Cass County Extension Service, was present on behalf of Brad Cogdill, who is on <br />developmental leave. Commissioners received copies of the grant proposals, which are for <br />continuation of these programs. MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Schneider moved and Mr. Ness seconded that the Parenting <br /> Resource Center Program/Coordinator be approved pending <br /> acceptance by the granting agency and the NDSU Extension Service <br /> and its implementation for July 1, 1996-June 30, 1997 proceed <br /> according to guidelines presented in the proposal. Further, the Cass <br /> County Extension Service budget be amended to incorporate a revenue <br /> and expense budget from the following funding sources: Region V <br /> Children's Service Coordinating Committee (CSCC), Children's Trust <br /> Fund of North Dakota (CTFND) and the Office of Juvenile Justice and <br /> Delinquency Prevention. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Ness seconded that the Cass County <br />Commission support the proposal that would provide continuation of <br />the Cass County Extension Service Family Nutrition Program from <br />October 1, 1996-September 30, 1997, pending proposal acceptance. On <br />roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />
