BRIDGE REMOVAL, Maple River Township, Sections 13-24 County Engineer Keith Berndt requested permission to remove two bridges in Maple River Township between sections 13-24 for reasons stated in a memorandum to commissioners dated January 26, 1996. The Maple River Township Board Chairman is in concurrence with removal of those bridges due to liability concerns, Mr. Berndt said. MOTION, passed Mr. Ness moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to authorize the county engineer to remove two bridges in Maple River Township between Sections 13 and 24. On roll call vote, the motion carried with four members voting "Aye" and Mr. Eckert opposing. COMMISSION POLICY MANUAL AMENDED, Southeast Cass Water Resource appointment Mr. Ness said an appointment should have been made to the Southeast Cass Water Resource Board prior to January 1, 1996, because Robert Brodshaug was not reappointed since he met the county's term limitation policy at the end of his term on December 31, 1995. Mark Thelen, Fargo, has since made application for the appointment, and Mr. Ness believes he would be an administrative asset to the board. Applications were later submitted by Fred Selberg and Jeff Harmon. MOTION, passed Mr. Ness moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to amend Commission Policy Manual Section 4.00, Advisory Boards, to appoint Mark Thelen to the Southeast Cass Water Resource District for a three-year term to replace Robert Brodshaug. On roll call vote, the motion carried with four members voting "Aye"; Mr. Eckert opposing because he believes the late applicants should be considered and he thinks Mr. Thelen lacks qualification on water board matters. VOUCHERS, Approved MOTION, passed Mr. Eckert moved and.Mrs. Schneider seconded to approve Vouchers No. 84,020 through No. 84,465 and No. 85,000 through No. 85,775. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. WEED BOARD REPORTS; JUDGESHIP POSITIONS; WATER RESOURCE DISTRICT STUDY COMMITTEE; PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY; COURTHOUSE REMODELING; COMMISSIONERS JOINT MEETING WITH FARGO AND WEST FARGO RESCHEDULED, Committee reports Mr. Eckert reported that he received a telephone call from the North Dakota Department of Agriculture regarding County Weed Control reports for 1995. He said he discussed the matter with the present chairman of the weed board and with the county engineer. Mr. Wieland received a letter from the North Dakota Peace Officer's Association concerning a change in State law on the number of judges in North Dakota. He plans to respond on this issue.
