Comm. Minutes--March 6, 1995 1306 <br /> <br />Mr. Ness said a letter was received from the Reed Township Board which <br />said they were on the record against the 10-year tax exemption. Mr. <br />Nygard had not been informed of Reed Township's opinion and said with <br />the possibility of another production shift from the elm trees, the <br />10-year exemption is not as crucial. <br /> <br />Frank Klein, Director of Tax Equalization, said the Commission can <br />negotiate the number of years and percentage of exemption. <br /> <br />Mr. Ness asked Mr. Nygard to talk with Reed Township before the next <br />meeting in order to help make a recommendation. <br /> <br />13. <br /> <br />SPACE AND PLANNING COMMITTEE, Actions ratified <br />Mr. Eckert discussed space usage for Veterans Service after the new <br />addition is completed. He said the Space & Planning Committee <br />discussed the possibility of moving the office to the first or fourth <br />floor. He said there will be three offices on the first floor. He <br />asked if Water Resources will have first option on two offices since <br />they occupied two offices on the first floor before the new addition. <br /> <br />Mr. Ness and Mr. Wieland said Water Resources should have first option <br />and this limits the space possibilities for Veterans Service. This <br />issue will be taken into consideration after the new building is <br />completed. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to approach <br /> John Meyer with the feasibility of moving the Veterans <br /> Service Office to the Juvenile Justice Center addition when <br /> it is completed, either on first floor or fourth floor. On <br /> roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded that Sheriff <br />Don Rudnick request a waiver concerning the use of an <br />outdoor exercise area for children housed in the detention <br />center. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to table the <br />request from North Dakota Parole and Probation for leasing <br />county office space until such time as all county space <br />needs have been met. On roll call vote, motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to allow <br />Social Services to use the hearing room and jury room on <br />second floor in the courthouse for the family assessment <br />unit. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded that Dorothy <br />Howard be allowed to use the space on second floor in the <br />courthouse formerly used by Ralph Erickson. On roll call <br />vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />
