Minutes--January 3, 1995 1288 <br /> <br />18. <br /> <br />19. <br /> <br />20. <br /> <br />CONTRACT APPROVAL, Discover Card; Social Service contracts; board of <br />prisoners <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to approve the <br /> following contracts submitted by respective department <br /> heads and portfolio commissioners, subject to State's <br /> Attorney approval; and authorize the chairman to sign. On <br /> roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Discover Card--credit card payment of real estate taxes <br /> <br />Social Service contracts (included in Social Services meeting <br />agenda packet for January 3, 1995) <br /> <br />Board of Prisoners--City of Fargo and Ransom County <br /> <br />ABATEMENT HEARING, Edgewood Apartments/Van Raden properties <br />A hearing was held on application for abatement and settlement of <br />taxes #3991 submitted by Edgewood Apartments/Van Raden Properties. <br />Gregory Gullickson was present representing the applicant and stated <br />they are requesting that the valuation be reduced from $2,210,000 to <br />$1,982,000 on the property located at 3301-3315 North Broadway, Fargo. <br /> <br />Frank Klein, County Director of Tax Equalization, inspected the <br />property and agrees with the City of Fargo Assessment Office that the <br />property is not over-assessed. He said the appraisal submitted by the <br />applicant and the City of Fargo assessment are fairly close in value. <br />The Fargo City Assessor and two staff members were also present. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Toussaint moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded that <br /> abatement #3991 be denied as recommended by the City of <br /> Fargo and Director of Equalization for the reasons <br /> discussed. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />ABATEMENT HEARING, Darrell & Nadine Nelson <br />A hearing was held on application for abatement and settlement of <br />taxes #3992 and #3993 submitted by Darrell and Nadine M. Nelson. The <br />County Director of Tax Equalization said the Reed Township Board <br />recommended that the valuation be reduced to $12,000 on the property <br />described in the application. MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Toussaint moved and Mr. Wieland seconded that <br /> abatements #3992 and #3993 be reduced to $12,000 as <br /> recommended by the Reed Township Board and Director of <br /> Equalization. On roll call vote, motion carried <br /> unanimously. <br /> <br />COMMUNITY SERVICE AND RESTITUTION, Grant changes <br />Barb Breiland was present from the North Dakota State Parole and <br />Probation Office, located in Fargo, to discuss changes in the Edward <br />Byrne Memorial grant awarded in 1994 for a community service and <br />restitution program through the North Dakota Parole and Probation. <br /> <br /> <br />
