Minutes--July 18, 1994 1231 <br /> <br />18. <br /> <br />19. <br /> <br />20. <br /> <br />21. <br /> <br />STATE'S ATTORNEY, Vehicle Policy Committee action ratified <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Ness moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to ratify <br /> vehicle Policy Committee recommendation of July 18, 1994 to <br /> dispose of the white, Chevrolet Astro van which is no <br /> longer used by the welfare fraud investigator since the <br /> States Attorney's Office acquired a BMW as part of a recent <br /> welfare fraud investigation and criminal prosecution. On <br /> roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #1994-9, Emergency declared for funding damaged facilities <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Ness moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to adopt <br /> Resolution #1994-9 declaring an emergency for the purpose <br /> of utilizing emergency funding for replacing and repairing <br /> damaged facilities (replacing underground fuel tank located <br /> between the Courthouse and the Jail because it has suffered <br /> extensive damage from water leakage during the last several <br /> years, and repairing water drainage problem through the <br /> installation of storm sewers). On roll call vote, motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> <br />COURTHOUSE STORM SEWER IMPROVEMENTS, Bid award MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Ness moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to accept the low <br /> bid of Robert Gibb and Sons in the amount of $18,448.50 for <br /> storm sewer project north of Courthouse. On roll call <br /> vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />LAKE AGASSIZ REGIONAL COUNCIL, Financial award for flood assistance <br />A memo dated July 8, 1994, was received via the Road Department from <br />Mark Sovig, Lake Agassiz Regional Council, concerning financial award <br />for flood-related assistance to protect the Mark Smith and Robert <br />Peterson properties along the Reed and Raymond Township line. <br /> <br />At a meeting held earlier today, the County Road Advisory Committee <br />discussed the road which provides access to the above properties. <br />County Engineer Keith Berndt said the Road Advisory Committee <br />recommends sponsoring the project activities with a 25% local match <br />from the property owners. <br /> <br />Jeff Volk, Moore Engineering Company, said this is a three-phase <br />project for flood control which involves protecting the two properties <br />and raising the road on the township line. He said Keith Berndt has <br />discussed the project with the township officials and they are in <br />agreement with the concept of raising the road and participating in <br />the local cost. <br /> <br />Property owners Gail Smith and Robert Peterson spoke to the Commission <br />at this time requesting consideration of in-kind services for their <br />contribution to the project. This is agreeable with the Commission <br />if the property owners can substantiate a reasonable cost for their <br />time and effort on the project. <br /> <br /> <br />
