On roll call vote, motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />FINANCE COMMITTEE, Actions ratified MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Ness moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to amend the <br /> overtime budget in the Child Support Enforcement Office by <br /> ~14,080 and to amend the revenue budget by ~13,380. On <br /> roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Toussaint moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to amend the <br />1994 election budget for the purchase of the county's share <br />of an optical scanner with the actual cash outlay of <br />~23,000 in 1995. This motion is contingent upon similar <br />action by the City of Fargo. Mr. Eckert expressed concern <br />about whether we need more equipment or if we need to <br />update equipment. On roll call vote, motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Ness moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to adopt the <br />1995 budget calendar as presented by the County Auditor. <br />On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />DATA PROCESSING, Remote access to county computer system <br />Michael Steiner, Data Processing Coordinator, provided a Public <br />Information Inquiry Agreement for Remote Access to County Computer <br />System, and he was present to answer questions. Also present were Jim <br />Deibert and Judy Gehrke, Fargo-Moorhead Realtors Association. <br />Mr. Deibert was given an opportunity to review his points of concern <br />in the agreement. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Toussaint moved and Mr. Ness seconded to finalize the <br /> contract for remote access with the exception of the fee <br /> base structure. On roll call vote, motion carried <br /> unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Steiner presented two options for proceeding with a dial-up <br />communications network and recommends Option #2 as stated in his memo <br />to the County Commission dated June 3, 1994. This option would allow <br />remote access to the County's IBM AS/400 and LAN for commissioners and <br />employees using LAN. Private companies would have access to the IBM <br />AS/400 using a protocol converter attached directly to the IBM AS/400. <br />He stated the following reasons for his recommendation: 1) lower <br />initial costs, 2) less security risk, 3) lower support costs and 4) <br />lower upgrade costs. <br /> MOTION, withdrawn <br /> Mr. Ness moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to follow Option <br /> #1 working through the Novell system instead of Option #2 <br /> running two systems. Discussion: Since there are still <br /> some unanswered questions in regard to this, Mr. Wieland <br /> <br /> <br />
