A report of all
change orders will be prepared for each Commissioner as
changes occur. On
roll call vote, motion carried unanimously.

MOTION, passed
Mrs. Toussaint moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to amend the
1994 election budget for the purchase of the county's share
of an optical scanner with the actual cash outlay of
~23,000 in 1995. This motion is contingent upon similar
action by the City of Fargo. Mr. Eckert expressed concern
about whether we need more equipment or if we need to
update equipment. On roll call vote, motion carried
unanimously.

MOTION, passed
Mr. Ness moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to adopt the
1995 budget calendar as presented by the County Auditor.
On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously.

DATA PROCESSING, Remote access to county computer system
Michael Steiner, Data Processing Coordinator, provided a Public
Information Inquiry Agreement for Remote Access to County Computer
System, and he was present to answer questions. Also present were Jim
Deibert and Judy Gehrke, Fargo-Moorhead Realtors Association.
Mr. Deibert was given an opportunity to review his points of concern
in the agreement.
MOTION, passed
Mrs. Toussaint moved and Mr. Ness seconded to finalize the
contract for remote access with the exception of the fee
base structure. On roll call vote, motion carried
unanimously.

Mr. Steiner presented two options for proceeding with a dial-up
communications network and recommends Option #2 as stated in his memo
to the County Commission dated June 3, 1994. This option would allow
remote access to the County's IBM AS/400 and LAN for commissioners and
employees using LAN. Private companies would have access to the IBM
AS/400 using a protocol converter attached directly to the IBM AS/400.
He stated the following reasons for his recommendation: 1) lower
initial costs, 2) less security risk, 3) lower support costs and 4)
lower upgrade costs.
MOTION, withdrawn
Mr. Ness moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to follow Option
#1 working through the Novell system instead of Option #2
running two systems.
