CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT, Consultant services for recovery division MOTION, passed Mr. Risher moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to authorize the Regional Child Support Enforcement Unit to spend up to $2,000 from their office equipment line item by December 31, 1993, for the purpose of contracting for services of a private consultant regarding the establishment of a recovery division designed to enhance collections in the areas of child support and welfare fraud. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. CONTRACT WITH S.R.F., INC. ON INTERGOVERNMENTAL ROADWAY POLICY STUDY, Road Engineer to cancel contract MOTION, passed Mr. Risher moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to authorize the County Engineer to terminate contract with Strgar-Roscoe- Fausch, Inc. on intergovernmental roadway policy study. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS, County/city calendar for 1994 Alice Hauan, President of the Fargo League of Women Voters, and Donna Chalimonczyk, who chaired the calendar committee, were present to thank the county commission for their support and assistance from county staff in the joint effort to produce the county/city calendar. Mrs. Hauan said 9,995 calendars were mailed to rural Cass County residents and 35,722 were mailed to residents of the City of Fargo. Additional copies of the calendar are available in the office of the county coordinator and county auditor. REGISTER OF DEEDS, Progress report on backlog Deanna Kensrud, Register of Deeds, reported that the backlog of documents in her department has now been reduced by 51%, and her goal continues to be to complete the backlog by the end of this year. About one-half of the funds allocated for the purpose of eliminating the backlog have been spent so far. The Commission commended the department for the progress made since last month. JUVENILE JUSTICE CENTER, Possible addition of three floors/architect to prepare drawings for bidding to multiple prime contractors Mrs. Toussaint said the County Commission referred the matter of building additional floors on the Juvenile Justice Center back to the Space & Planning Committee, which met earlier today and discussed space needs of the Cass County Social Services Department. At that meeting, Kathy Hogan reported that adding two floors to the Juvenile Justice Center would not be sufficient to house current staff so discussion began on adding three floors. The architect estimated the additional cost at $700,000 and said the present building would support three additional floors. MOTION, passed Mr. Risher moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to accept the Space & Planning Committee recommendation of November 15, 1993, to pursue the construction of three additional floors on the Juvenile Justice Center building contingent upon the ability to do a financial plan with the County Auditor. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously.
