Minutes--July 6, 1993 1061 <br /> <br />23. <br /> <br />24. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland said he would not favor a reimbursement for mileage <br />already paid since all vouchers are approved by the County Commission. <br /> <br />Mr. Goff said there are two issues that need to be kept separate, one <br />is travel to and from work and the other is defining what constitutes <br />official business. Mrs. Toussaint asked for a legal opinion, and Mr. <br />Golf said he will respond. <br /> <br />FARGO-CASS COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, Quarterly report <br />John Kramer, President of the Fargo-Cass County Economic Development <br />Corporation, highlighted items of interest from his written report <br />which was received in the County Commission Office on June 29, 1993. <br /> <br />Mrs. Toussaint asked for an explanation of the team/manufacturer list <br />on the attachment to this quarterly report. Mr. Kramer said he could <br />send her their questionnaire on business expansion. Concerning the <br />goal of creating 6,000 new jobs, Mr. Kramer said this includes <br />business retention. <br /> <br />WEED BOARD DISTRICTS, Action to re-establish districts failed <br /> MOTION, failed <br /> Mr. Ness moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to take from the <br /> table the motion postponed from the June 7, 1993 meeting: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, through North Dakota Century Code, the Cass County Board of <br />Commissioners is directly responsible for controlling noxious weeds <br />by appointment of a weed board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Cass County Board of Commissioners is responsible for the <br />levy of taxes for the performance of activities as may be required to <br />control noxious weeds; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, members of a county weed board are to be derived from <br />contiguous geographic areas within the district; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, existing districts do not provide the Cass County Commission <br />with the direct flow of problems and opportunities available in this <br />important function for which it is accountable. <br /> <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, TO: <br /> <br />* Establish a five-member board to be known as the Cass County <br /> Government Weed Board (hereafter referred to as "weed board"). <br /> <br />Membership shall be derived from the contiguous Cass County <br />Commissioner Districts which were established in accordance with <br />NDCC in 1990. <br /> <br />Membership shall consist of the duly elected county <br />commissioners from each district who shall be appointed into <br />service by action of the Cass County Board of Commissioners at <br />its regular meeting June 21, 1993. Terms of service on the <br />"weed board" will be in accordance with state law but also in <br /> <br /> <br />
