Minutes--July 6, 1992 878 <br /> <br />18. <br /> <br />SOCIAL SERVICES, Out-of-state travel approved MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Toussaint moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to approve <br /> out-of-state travel for Leslie Johnson, Social Services <br /> employee, to Fergus Falls, MN, on July 3 and July 7, 1992, <br /> for emergency foster placement. On roll call vote, motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> <br />19. <br /> <br />FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE, Refuge revenue sharing payment received <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Toussaint moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to authorize <br /> the Chairman to sign statement of compliance with Section <br /> VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 pertaining to refuge <br /> revenue sharing payments. County Auditor deposited annual <br /> payment received in the amount of $8,041.00. On roll call <br /> vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />20. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENT, Weed Control Board MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Toussaint moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to appoint <br /> Kenneth Hejl, Arthur, ND, to the Cass County Weed Control <br /> Board for a term to expire July 1, 1996, to replace John <br /> Hoag of Hunter. On roll call vote, motion carried <br /> unanimously. <br /> <br />21. <br /> <br />ROAD DEPARTMENT, Introduction of Keith Berndt, County Engineer <br />Keith Berndt, County Engineer, began working for Cass County <br />Government on Monday, June 29, 1992, and Commissioners welcomed him <br />at this time. He said he looks forward to making a contribution to <br />Cass County and appreciates having that opportunity. <br /> <br />22. <br /> <br />COURT SECURITY, Appointment of committee <br />Sheriff Don Rudnick asked the Commission to consider appointing a <br />Court Security Committee, and he provided a list of recommendations <br />from the United States Marshals Service in regard to security of the <br />Cass County Courthouse. A letter was also received from State's <br />Attorney John Golf encouraging a united effort and expressing a <br />willingness to serve on a committee. Mr. Shannon also volunteered <br />since he has the portfolio for County Court. MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Shannon moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to establish <br /> a Court Security Committee including representation from <br /> the Sheriff's Department, State's Attorney, County Court, <br /> District Court, Juvenile Referee, County Auditor, and all <br /> members of the County Commission being eligible to serve; <br /> and that recommendations be made for upgrading security <br /> based on no cost/low cost, modest cost, and cost/no option <br /> with a deadline not later than August 15, 1992, for <br /> submitting recommendations to the Commission. Mr. Wieland <br /> said some of the security measures may not be public <br /> information, but Sheriff Rudnick said that would not be a <br /> big concern. At the call for the question and on roll call <br /> vote, the motion carried unanimously. Mr. Wieland asked <br /> Commissioner Shannon to schedule the first meeting and <br /> serve as chairman, continuing to serve in that capacity if <br /> the committee so desires. <br /> <br /> <br />
