Minutes--January 8, 1991 606 <br /> <br />27. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to receive <br /> and file correspondence outlined by the secretary as <br /> follows: <br /> letter from Scott Kildahl reminding Commissioners to meet with <br /> supervisors or department heads in their portfolio to begin <br /> formulating work plans for 1991 and ask for department goals; <br /> memo from Chairman to Commissioners regarding final wrap-up <br /> session for strategic planning under the Coordinated Management <br /> System to be held January 28th, 3:30 PM, Model Project Office; <br /> summary of noxious weed control efforts by Valley City Wetland <br /> Management District (copy referred to Weed Control Office); CDBG <br /> information letter on pre-application deadline, which is January <br /> 18, 1991, for housing and public facilities; letter from U.S. <br /> Department of Labor expressing concern for safety and health in <br /> the work place (referred to Commissioner Wieland}; letter of <br /> appreciation from Arland Rasmussen, Sheriff Department employee, <br /> for allowing County employees to have December 24th as a <br /> holiday and for 1991 pay increase; letters from Office of States <br /> Attorney, dated December 21, 1990, and January 3, 1991, <br /> regarding Assistant States Attorney salaries; letter from Mike <br /> Montplaisir regarding County Extension salaries--NDSU will <br /> prepare the payroll for all professional staff, with the county <br /> making semi-annual payments to NDSU Extension Service for the <br /> county's portion of professional salaries; Memorandum of <br /> Understanding outlining the operating arrangement between the <br /> Register of Deeds and Abstract Companies, as prepared by -the <br /> States Attorney; copy of notice of "Opportunity for Public <br /> Hearing" from County Road Department for proposed road <br /> improvement, Mapleton to West Fargo; Personnel Department memos <br /> regarding employee breaks and payroll deductions for Denticare <br /> and Preferred Vision programs; letter from Southeastern North <br /> Dakota Community Action Agency regarding appointment of a <br /> commissioner or designated representative to their board (former <br /> Commissioner, Oscar Sondrall, was serving); letter from <br /> Southeast Human Service Center regarding expiration of three <br /> terms on their board, and memo from Kathy Hogan, Social Services <br /> Director, recommending four names for consideration; request for <br /> comments from State Historical Society on use of Historic <br /> Preservation Grant-In-Aid Funds during 1992 Federal fiscal year <br /> (referred to County Coordinator and Model Project Coordinator) <br /> notice of Cass County Historical Society Board of Director's <br /> meeting January 8th at 7:00 PM, and copy of minutes of December <br /> 4 and 27, 1990 meetings; copy of letter from Gene Shannon to <br /> Commissioner Alon Wieland regarding a meeting January 29th at <br /> 9:00 AM in the Commission Room to discuss the IACP report <br /> (International Association of Chiefs of Police); memo to all <br /> Commissioners from Gene Shannon about notice of meeting January <br /> 7th at 3:30 PM in the Commission Room to review County <br /> legislation drafted by Mark Boening, States Attorney's staff. <br /> One item in the Suggestion Box asked that smoking be continued <br /> in the cafeteria.
