Comm. Minutes--October 2, 1990 545

12.

13.

14,'

TAX-FORFEITED PROPERTY, Appraisals made/hearin~ set NOTION, passed
Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to appraise the
annual real estate tax list for the amount of general tax,
specials, penalties and cost fees as provided by the County
Auditor; and to set a hearing on such appraisal for October
16, 1990, for any objections to the minimum sale price. On
roll call vote, motion carried unanimously.

VOUCHERS, Approved
Mr. Sondrall reviewed the list of bills and brought several items to
the Commission's attention. He asked about a bill from Grantland
Enterprises for $156. The Personnel Director said his department
subscribes to a service that provides cartoon strips to help make the
employee newsletter more entertaining. Mr. Sondrall also asked about
a bill for $29 to West Acres Bowl. The accountant assumed this is
for activities for clients in a Social Service program. MOTION, passed
Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to approve
Vouchers No. 18,218 through No. 19,049 subject to review by
the accountant and other interested parties on the bill for
bowling. Oq. roll call vote, motion carried unanimously.

SHERIFF DEPARTMENT, Leave of absence for Juvenile Detention employee
Sheriff Don Rudnick requested a medical leave of absence for Juvenile
Detention Center employee, Kimberly A. Stewart, who was injured in an
automobile accident August 24, 1990. Ms. Stewart sent a doctor's
statement saying she cannot work for two months from date of injury.

The sheriff said county policy requires employees first use all
accrued annual leave and compensatory time, and that any leave
extending beyond 30 days be approved by the County Commission. He
requested that Ms. Stewart's leave of absence be granted until
approximately December 1st in case she is unable to work after two-
months time. He said he hired a part-time Juvenile Detention Center
employee to work full-time on a temporary basis until Ms. Stewart
returns to that job. NOTION, passed
Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to allow unpaid
medical leave of absence up to December 1, 1990, for
Juvenile Detention Center employee, Kimberly Stewart.
Discussion: Mr. Shannon asked if it would be possible to
make a claim against a person's car insurance policy for
medical expenses rather than paying them from the County's
insurance pool. The States Attorney said he is not aware
of anyone doing this but said it would be something to
explore. He said people would need to be informed that
there may be a secondary place to inquire about medical
expenses from an automobile accident. The Sheriff said his
department informed the Personnel Director of Ms. Stewart's
accident. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously.
