Sondra]l moved and Hr. Eckert seconded to receive and <br /> file Officer's Reports for August, 1990, for the Clerk of <br /> Court, County Court, Register of Deeds and Sheriff. On <br /> roll ca]] vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />BRIDGE PROJECT EAST OF HARWOOD, Bid awarded to Wanzek Construction <br />Wanzek Construction Company of Fargo was ]ow bidder on the bridge <br />construction project between Cass and Clay Counties east of Harwood, <br />according to County Engineer Don Richards. Their bid is about <br />$145,000 below the engineer's estimate for the project. MOTION, passed <br /> Hr. Sondra]l moved and Hr. Eckert seconded to authorize the <br /> Chairman to sign a resolution recommending the Commissioner <br /> of Highways accept the ]ow bid on Project CRS-0955(51), a <br /> bridge over the Red River three mi]es east of Harwood, in <br /> the amount of $1,448,631 from Wanzek Construction Company <br /> of Fargo. On roil ca]] vote, motion carried unanimous]y· <br /> <br />POLICY ON PAY RATES FOR ELECTED OFFICIALS, Adopted for posting <br />Personnel Director Geoff Riches drafted a po]icy whereby the starting <br />salary for elected officials shall be the minimum of the county pay <br />scale for that position. Salaries for newly elected officials who <br />were previously county employees occupying regular positions wi]] be <br />hand]ed in accordance with established county personnel po]icy as <br />defined in Section 3.2, Personnel Po]icies and Procedures Hanual. <br /> <br />Mr. Riches said this policy is being included in the next version of <br />the personnel policies and procedures manual which he is preparing. <br />He said any po]icy adopted by the Commission should be posted for 15 <br />days after adoption before it becomes effective, MOTION, passed <br /> Hr. Wieland moved and Hr. Eckert seconded to adopt the <br /> po]icy on pay rates for elected officials and post it for <br /> the 15-day required waiting period, at which time it will <br /> become part of the existing po]icy manual. <br /> Discussion: Hr. Shannon suggested sending a letter to <br /> candidates on the genera] election ballot informing them of <br /> this po]icy, but Hr. Wieland thought it would be sufficient <br /> to have the information available through the Personnel <br /> Department. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />
