Comm. Minutes--September 11, 1990 517

Ordelle Brua said the anniversary date on her retirement is the 1st
of June and she would like to remain in the County's employ for a
couple of months after that. Mr. Shannon said this is an issue that
Mrs. Brua should talk to the Personnel Director about so there can be
an orderly transition between herself and the new auditor. MOTION, passed
Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to adopt the
Auditor's budget as outlined by the accountant with the
acknowledgements about the proposed replacement of the
accountant III position. On roll call vote, motion carried
unanimously.

BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS, Budget approved MOTION, passed
Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to adopt the
following budget annotations outlined by the Chairman:
1) buildings and grounds staff shall not work more than 12
hours continuously without a 12-hour break before resuming
work; 2) every effort be made to work with Walt Willis for
the purpose of using prisoners from the jail to work
buildings and grounds-keeping activities, including
sidewalk shoveling; 3) County will not be involved in
removing snow by buildings and grounds personnel for anyone
outside of the county government proper; 4) cleaning
contractor and elevator maintenance contractor be notified
that County will bid for the renewal of those contracts in
November for contracts beginning January 1, 1991, with a
specific notation that the Juvenile Justice Center be
included as part of the bidding procedure but that it be
bid separate from the Courthouse for the purpose of
comparing existing contract, that the contracts would be
for one year, namely 1991, with the intent that following
years would be two to three-year renewals, and that the
contracts be drafted with an escape clause. On roll call
vote, motion carried unanimously.
MOTION, passed
Hr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to adopt the
Buildings and Grounds budget as stated with the removal of
$13,000 for a ]awn sprinkler. On roll call vote, motion
carried unanimously.

CEMETERY, Budget approved MOTION, passed
Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to approve
the Cemetery budget as outlined, removing $2,250 for grave
digging which is included in Social Services budget, and
moving $300 for fees to the maintenance line item. The
Auditor said this amount is paid to Riverside Cemetery for
maintenance on a portion of the cemetery apparently owned
by Cass County. This item will remain in the budget but
was referred to John Meyer and the Cemetery Authority for
investigation. On roll call vote, motion carried
unanimously.
