Comm, Minutes--September 4, 1990 513 <br /> <br />14. <br /> <br />15. <br /> <br />16. <br /> <br />VOUCttERS APPROVED <br />Hr'. Shannon said approximately 50 items'were reviewed on the list of <br />bills for this month, and he discussed t'he following: 1) necessity <br />of fountain pens, 2) Norkman's Compensation premium for disaster <br />emergency volunteers, 3) fines to Norman County Court for overloaded <br />trucks, and 4) purchase of business cards. Commissioners have talked <br />about standardizing letterhead and business cards in the near future. <br /> NOT~ON, passed <br /> Hr. Wieland moved and Hr. Eckert seconded that Vouchers No. <br /> 17,254 through No. 18,217 be approved and order paid, the <br /> Chairman to inquire into the need for using fountain pens <br /> as opposed to other kinds of pens. On roll call vote, <br /> motion carried unanimously. Included in the list of bills <br /> are payments to warrant holders for the Forest River <br /> Special Assessment District, as outlined in a letter from <br /> Mike Montplaisir. <br /> <br />COUNTY SEAL DUPLICATION, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MEETING, GARRISON <br />DIVERSION VACANCY, SHERIFF'S FORMER RESIDENCE, DUMPSITE CLEAN-UP, <br />Gommittee reports <br />The Commission concurred with Mr. Wieland's request for authorization <br />to pursue his idea of duplicating the Cass County Seal on a pin to be <br />handed out at the fall County Commissioners Convention along with an <br />invitation to attend the 1991 convention to be held in Fargo. <br /> <br />Four Commissioners and the accountant plan to attend a meeting with <br />the Director of the North Dakota Economic Development Commission at <br />2:00 p.m., September 19, at the Doublewood Inn, Fargo. <br /> <br />Several people have expressed interest in the vacancy on the Garrison <br />Diversion Conservancy District Board to fill the term of the late <br />Henry "Hank" Hendrickson. It was the consensus of the Commission to <br />leave the position vacant until the November 6th general election <br />because it is such a short time away. Both Commissioners Wieland and <br />Sondrall expressed an interest in attending any meetings of the <br />Garrison Board which may be held prior to election day. The Chairman <br />suggested that they find out when the next meeting is and both could <br />attend if they wish. <br /> <br />Hr. Shannon asked Personnel Director Geoff Riches to inquire about <br />using jail inmates to clean up junk in former Sheriff's Residence. <br />Mr. Riches will call the Workman's Compensation Bureau. <br /> <br />Mr. Shannon reported the unauthorized dump site in Barnes Township <br />was cleaned up by County Road Department crews August 22nd. Because <br />of the good media coverage, he hopes to educate the public on where <br />to dump unwanted items. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed NOTZON, passed <br /> Mrs, Toussaint moved and Mr, Wieland seconded to receive and <br /> file correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: <br /> preliminary 1990 census counts sent to County Planner Earl <br /> Haugen showing 15% population growth in Cass County and a 4% <br /> housing vacancy rate; memo on department heads' meeting at 8:15 <br /> a,m,, September 13, in the Commission Room when Commissioner <br /> Wieland will discuss legislative items; invitation to meet Fred <br /> Haeffner, Director of North Dakota Economic Development <br /> <br /> <br />
