Comm, Hinutes--August 1, 1990 495 <br /> <br />SECTION 4.10 LEAVE OF ABSENCE <br />Page 23, paragraph 1--add the following underlined language "...leave <br />of absence without pay may be granted in writing by a Department Head, <br />Personnel Director and Commission Chairman..." <br /> <br />Page 23, paragraph 2--add the following underlined language in the <br />second sentence: "...accrued sick leave benefits and compensatory <br />time." <br /> <br />SECTION TO BE ADDED HERE ON LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR DEPARTMENT HEAD <br />Hr. Shannon said to add a section after Section 4.10 to this effect: <br />"Requests for leave by a department head for any length of time shall <br />require commission approval, and the commission may require a doctor's <br />statement as to the nature of the illness and its potential impact on <br /> <br />performance as often as the Commission deems necessary." <br /> <br />SECTION 4.11 MILITARY LEAVE <br />Mr. Riches intends to review this section with some departments and <br />further review the century code. <br /> <br />SECTION 4.12 RECOGNITION AWARDS <br />Mrs. Toussaint thinks this is a good idea, and Mr. Shannon said the <br />county can build on this with other activities also. <br /> i <br /> <br />SECTION 4.14 SICK LEAVE <br />Page 25, 3rd full paragraph--Mr. Wieland asked about the sentence <br />whereby Cass County will reimburse 10% of unused accrued sick leave <br />at the time of retirement. Mr. Riches said this was added as an <br />incentive not to use sick leave benefits unnecessarily. <br /> <br />Mr. Shannon said there are other ways to monitor the use of sick <br />leave, and Mr. Riches said he prefers sick leave conversion--bottom <br />of page 25. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland suggested that Commissioner Shannon and Mr. Riches work <br />on this section. Mr. Shannon asked Commissioner Wieland to assist <br />them. <br /> <br />RECESS FROM 10:30 UNTIL 11:15 A.M. <br /> <br />SECTION 4.17 WORKER'S COMPENSATION <br />Page 27, first full paragraph--add the following underlined language <br />in the last sentence: "All medical bills related to the injury will <br />be covered." <br /> <br />CHAPTER 5 - GENERAL <br />SECTION 5.01 CERTIFICATION COMPLIANCE <br />Page 28--add language whereby employees pay for their own license when <br />required by law to be licensed. <br /> <br />SECTION 5.04 CONFIDENTIALITY <br />Mr. Wieland asked to add language that the county will provide copies <br />of records that are open to the public, but they may not be provided <br />immediately and there may be some charge for duplication of these <br />records. Mr. Riches he will include this under inspection of <br />personnel records in Section 2.6. <br /> <br /> <br />
