Comm. Minutes--March 6, 1990 438 17. 18. 19. 20. 21. SIIERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, Out of state travel approved NOTZON, passed Mrs. Toussaint moved and Hr. Wieland seconded to approve out of state travel for Sheriff's Deputy Tony Krogh to Des Moines, Iowa, on March 19-21 and for Deputy Rod Kitzan to Huntsville, Alabama, on March 18-21. The costs for both are within the Sheriff's education/seminars budget. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. LAKE AGASSIZ COUNCIL, Resolution of support of annual contribution Irv Rustad, Lake Agassiz Regional Council, proposed that Cass County commit the contribution of $15,500 from the 1990 County budget to secure funds to complete Phase I of the Regional Small Business Center in Fargo rather than committing funds over a three year period as originally requested by Mr. Rustad. He said he will ask the Commission to commit funds during the next budget session to be used as debt retirement until the loan is paid. Mike Montplaisir said he would not have a problem with this as long as the County is not committing funds for future years at this point. NOTION, passed Mr. Wieland moved and Hrs. Toussaint seconded to guarantee that Cass County will pay the amount allocated in the 1990 budget to the Lake Agassiz Regional Council for the current year, and Cass County will address any subsequent requests as a new question; and that this be subject to the States Attorney re-drafting the necessary resolution. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. RECYCLING PROJECT, Elimination_of one dumpster county Planner Earl Haugen addressed a letter to the Commission seeking approval to eliminate a three-yard dumpster, which is no longer needed because of the office paper recycling project. Since this was a move to save money, Chairman Shannon authorized removing the dumpster and this was agreeable with the other Commissioners. EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION, Suggestion by County Planner Earl Haugen suggested that some of the savings from the recycling project be used for an employee appreciation day. The Commissioners were in agreement to have Mr. Haugen explore the idea of an employee appreciation day, but not attach it to the dollars saved from the recycling program. Mr. Shannon invited him to offer some suggestions to the Commission at his opportunity and convenience. ROCHESTER TOWNSHIP, Sale of auarter section to hiRh biddeF NOTION, passed Upon the recommendation of the committee which reviewed the bids received today for the quarter section of land in Rochester Township, Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to accept the offer of Walter Satrom for $40,100, and refer it to the States Attorney for processing; the money to be deposited in the County's general fund.
