ROCHESTER TOWNSHIP, ~s for sale of quarter section Frank Klein said he viewed property the County advertised for sale, described as the southwest one-quarter of Section 6, Rochester Township. The property was rented out at about $1,500 per year and used as pasture. He indicated the soil types from the Cass County Soil Survey and said county Engineer Don Richards informed him that the quality of the gravel on this land is poor. Hike Montplaisir opened and read the following bids: George A. Wyum Ralph T. Thompson B. Hartin and Elizabeth J. Gray Walter Satrom $ 6,200 $28,175 $38,500 $40,100 States Attorney Robert Hoy suggested referring the bids to a committee for tabulation and recommendation, If the Commission wishes to sell the land, he would contact the highest bidder and proceed with the conveyance. MOTION, passed Hr. Wie]and moved and Hfs. Toussaint seconded that the County Accountant, Director of Equalization and one Commissioner review the bids and make a recommendation to the County Commission. Mr. Shannon asked Mr. Wie]and to represent the Commission. On roll ca]] vote, the motion carried unanimously. ROAD DEPARTMENT, Hiring of temporary help delaye~ Don Richards requested permission to hire up to 12 temporary positions'for seasonal work in the Highway Department at pay scales between $5.50 and $8.50 per hour. Geoffrey Riches, Personnel Director, suggested that his department be engaged in coordinating advertisements for the positions, defining scopes of work; and receiving applications. Mr. Riches thought ail departments looking toward hiring temporary or seasonal employees should work with the Personnel Department in centralizing the process of completing necessary forms. Mr. Wieland asked Hr. Riches to draft a policy on hiring seasonal employees, and bring it back to the Commission before the end of the meeting today.
