The property was rented out at about $1,500 per year and <br />used as pasture. He indicated the soil types from the Cass County <br />Soil Survey and said county Engineer Don Richards informed him that <br />the quality of the gravel on this land is poor. <br /> <br />Hike Montplaisir opened and read the following bids: <br /> <br />George A. Gray <br />Walter Satrom <br /> <br />$ 6,200 <br />$28,175 <br /> <br />$38,500 <br />$40,100 <br /> <br />States Attorney Robert Hoy suggested referring the bids to a <br />committee for tabulation and recommendation, If the Commission <br />wishes to sell the land, he would contact the highest bidder and <br />proceed with the conveyance. MOTION, passed <br /> Hr. Wie]and moved and Hfs. Toussaint seconded that the <br /> County Accountant, Director of Equalization and one <br /> Commissioner review the bids and make a recommendation to <br /> the County Commission. Mr. Shannon asked Mr. Wie]and to <br /> represent the Commission. On roll ca]] vote, the motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> <br />ROAD DEPARTMENT, Hiring of temporary help delaye~ <br />Don Richards requested permission to hire up to 12 temporary <br />positions'for seasonal work in the Highway Department at pay scales <br />between $5.50 and $8.50 per hour. <br /> <br />Geoffrey Riches, Personnel Director, suggested that his department <br />be engaged in coordinating advertisements for the positions, defining <br />scopes of work; and receiving applications. Mr. Riches thought ail <br />departments looking toward hiring temporary or seasonal employees <br />should work with the Personnel Department in centralizing the process <br />of completing necessary forms. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland asked Hr. Riches to draft a policy on hiring seasonal <br />employees, and bring it back to the Commission before the end of the <br />meeting today. <br /> <br /> <br />
