Comm. Minutes--JANUARY 16, 1990 416 <br /> <br />31. SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, Out of state travel approved HOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Toussaint moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to allow <br /> Arland Rasmussen to travel out of state to attend quarterly <br /> meetings of the Mid-States Organized Crime Information <br /> Center. Hotion carried. <br /> HOTZON, passed <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Hrs. Toussaint seconded to allow out <br /> of state travel for Deputy Carlos Perez to attend a court <br /> security seminar at the Federal Law Enforcement Training <br /> Center in Glynco, Georgia, February 12 through 16, 1990. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> <br />32. ROAD DEPARTMENT SHOPS, ~qit claim deeds <br />Mr. Shannon suggested that the States Attorney review quit claim <br />deeds for three former Road Department shops and a corrective deed <br />for a parcel of land in Argusville. <br /> <br />33. BONANZAVILLE, Destruction of artifacts <br />During the public comment period, Lila Hutchinson said she is <br />concerned about the treatment of artifacts at Bonanzaville. She <br />showed Commissioners some of the items retrieved from a garbage <br />dumpster and said she is concerned about what has been thrown out <br />since November. <br /> <br />Mr. Paul Burkhardt expressed concern about <br />Bonanzaville under the present management. <br /> <br />the direction of <br /> <br />Mr. Shannon said he received a telephone call prior to the meeting <br />today from Darrol Schroeder, President of the Cass County Historical <br />Society, saying they are interested in looking at the nine-member <br />committee proposal as a friendly attempt to at least look at the <br />issues. He said he will contact the Commission in early February to <br />further this process along. <br /> <br />34. FUTURE'S COMMITTEE, )nformqtion from RichlaRd COUntY <br />Kaye Braaten and Roman Berg, Richland County Commissioners, were <br />guests at a luncheon meeting held at 12:00. They talked about the <br />process of organizing Richland County's "SPIRIT OF THE 9Os" project. <br />The goal is to target problems, research possible solutions, weigh <br />alternatives, and make recommendations that their county commission <br />can use to govern the county in the next decade and into the future. <br /> <br />Hr. Shannon proposed the following resolution and a draft motion: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the recent referrals of measures against tax increases were <br />both 'large and decisive; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Cass County is faced with serious reductions in state dollar <br />transfers for programs and operations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is difficult to achieve a broad concensus of priority <br />spending within county government: and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the county will make every attempt to maintain delivery of <br />essential county services; and <br /> <br /> <br />
