Wieland said he was invited to serve on a county court and clerk <br />of district court study committee, and he plans to accept that <br />appointment. The committee will meet two or three times per year at <br />no cost to the County, he said. <br /> <br />25. MAINTENANCE DEPARTHENT, Evening class on maintenance itema <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Sondrall moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to pay tuition <br /> in the amount of $98 for Alton Johnson and Ron Leon to <br /> attend evening classes on maintenance-related items. On <br /> roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />27. ROAD MAINTENANCE ON 52ND AVENUE SOUTH, State Highway meetinq <br />Charles Kahl, State Highway District Engineer in Fargo, sent cost <br />estimates for improvements to 52nd Avenue South totaling $285,000 for <br />a 10 year road surface and over $400,000 for a storm sewer project. <br />He invited those present at the last meeting to attend another <br />meeting at 10:00 a.m. on January 24 at the Fargo District Office. <br /> <br />28. RIVERVIEW PLACE, Refundin~ MIDA bonds.discontinued <br />The Commission received a copy of a letter from the States Attorney <br />to the County Auditor informing her that Riverview Place decided not <br />to continue the proposed issuance of refunding MIDA bonds. MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to send a bill for <br /> $326.75 to Riverview Place for costs incurred by the County on <br /> their behalf concerning the MIDA bonds. Mr. Hoy and the <br /> accountant are drafting a policy similar to the City of Fargo's <br /> to cover up-front costs on bond issues. Hotion carried. <br /> <br />29. COMMISSIONERS & DEPARTHENT HEADS, Luncheon set <br />A memo was received from Bonnie Johnson inviting the Commissioners to <br />attend a luncheon at noon on January 23 at Old Broadway. <br /> <br />30. SOCIAL SERVICES, Waqe and hQur audit <br />The States Attorney sent a letter to the Commission Chairman and to <br />the Social Services Board Chairman enclosing the final revision of <br />the Fair Labor Standards Act Audit Summary of Cass County Social <br />Services dated January 8, 1990, as prepared by the Wage and Hour <br />Division of the U.S. Department of Labor. <br /> <br />Mr. Shannon said the original amount the County allegedly owed in <br />back pay was about $75,000. He credited Hr. Scott Kildahl, Acting <br />Social Services Director at the time, with reducing it to about <br />$60,000 initially. The Commission budgeted $50,000 in September. <br />Hr. Shannon complimented Hr. Kildahl, States Attorney Robert Hoy, <br />County accountant Mike Montplaisir, and Social Services accountant <br />Jerry Skjonsby with reducing the amount to $33,407.77. MOTION, passed <br /> Upon recommendation of the States Attorney, Mr. Sondrall <br /> moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to accept the Final <br /> Revision F.L.S.A. Audit Summary as accurate, agree to pay <br /> the back wages as itemized, and agree to future F.L.S.A. <br /> compliance. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br /> unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />
