Comm. Minutes--JANUARY 16, 1990 411 8. SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, Vehicle use policy Sheriff Don Rudnick gave the Commissioners a draft copy of a vehicle use policy for his department. He said he presumed the Commission is concerned with vehicles taken home by personnel, and he said the policy on that is at the top of page two. Mr. Shannon said this item was discussed at the time the 1990 budget was developed, and the Commission is trying to quantify how these vehicles are being used. He suggested referring it to Commissioners Wieland and Eckert to meet with the Sheriff and County accountant to prepare comments and suggestions for the next regular meeting. 9. SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, Bids on vehicles Sheriff Rudnick said he received bids for the purchase of new vehicles for his department. Mr. Shannon suggested opening the bids but advised the Sheriff not to view it as permission to purchase the vehicles until the vehicle use policy is formally adopted. The following bids were opened for marked police vehicles: Heritage Motor Car $13,253 Gateway Chevrolet $14,257 Wallwork Automotive $14,385 The following bids were opened for unmarked police vehicles: Wallwork Automotive $12,391 Gateway Chevrolet $11,556 Heritage Motor Car $13,253 Gateway Chevrolet submitted the only bid for a van in the amount of $13,900 for a cargo van and $14,000 for a passenger van, MOTION, passed Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to receive the bids and refer them to the Sheriff's Department for review and recommendation at the next regular Commission meeting. Motion carried. 10. SHEYENNE DIVERSION, Amreement simned MOTION, passed Nr. Wieland moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to authorize the Chairman to sign the right-of-entry permit and construction and maintenance agreement concerning the Sheyenne-Maple Flood Control District No. 1 project, as presented by Brian Neugebauer from the Ohnstad-Twichell law firm and as reviewed by the States Attorney and County Engineer. Motion carried. 11. BRIDGE PROJECT NEAR DAVENPORT, Agreement with State Highway MOTION, passed Upon recommendation of Engineer Don Richards, Nr. Eckert moved and Nr. Sondrall seconded that the Chairman be authorized to sign the right of way certificate and the agreement to provide for construction and maintenance of a federal aid project across the Sheyenne River six miles east of Davenport. The States Attorney has not reviewed this exact document but said it is a standard form, and he did not have a problem with the Commission approving it. Motion carried.
