SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, Vehicle use policy <br />Sheriff Don Rudnick gave the Commissioners a draft copy of a vehicle <br />use policy for his department. He said he presumed the Commission is <br />concerned with vehicles taken home by personnel, and he said the <br />policy on that is at the top of page two. <br /> <br />Mr. Shannon said this item was discussed at the time the 1990 budget <br />was developed, and the Commission is trying to quantify how these <br />vehicles are being used. He suggested referring it to Commissioners <br />Wieland and Eckert to meet with the Sheriff and County accountant to <br />prepare comments and suggestions for the next regular meeting. <br /> <br />9. SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, Bids on vehicles <br />Sheriff Rudnick said he received bids for the purchase of new vehicles <br />for his department. Mr. Shannon suggested opening the bids but <br />advised the Sheriff not to view it as permission to purchase the <br />vehicles until the vehicle use policy is formally adopted. <br /> <br />The following bids were opened for marked police vehicles: <br /> Heritage Motor Car $13,253 <br /> Gateway Chevrolet $14,257 <br /> Wallwork Automotive $14,385 <br /> <br />The following bids were opened for unmarked police vehicles: <br /> Wallwork Automotive $12,391 <br /> Gateway Chevrolet $11,556 <br /> Heritage Motor Car $13,253 <br /> <br />Gateway Chevrolet submitted the only bid for a van in the amount of <br />$13,900 for a cargo van and $14,000 for a passenger van, MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to receive the <br /> bids and refer them to the Sheriff's Department for review <br /> and recommendation at the next regular Commission meeting. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> <br />10. SHEYENNE DIVERSION, Amreement simned MOTION, passed <br /> Nr. Wieland moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to authorize <br /> the Chairman to sign the right-of-entry permit and <br /> construction and maintenance agreement concerning the <br /> Sheyenne-Maple Flood Control District No. 1 project, as <br /> presented by Brian Neugebauer from the Ohnstad-Twichell law <br /> firm and as reviewed by the States Attorney and County <br /> Engineer. Motion carried. <br /> <br />11. BRIDGE PROJECT NEAR DAVENPORT, Agreement with State Highway <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Upon recommendation of Engineer Don Richards, Nr. Eckert <br /> moved and Nr. Sondrall seconded that the Chairman be <br /> authorized to sign the right of way certificate and the <br /> agreement to provide for construction and maintenance of a <br /> federal aid project across the Sheyenne River six miles <br /> east of Davenport. The States Attorney has not reviewed <br /> this exact document but said it is a standard form, and he <br /> did not have a problem with the Commission approving it. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> <br /> <br />
