MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded that the present <br /> three-quarter time probation officer position in Cass County <br /> Court be expanded to full time as of January 1, 1990, at a <br /> salary of $19,058 per year plus benefits similar to all other <br /> full-time county employees; with the stipulation that this be <br /> at no additional cost to Cass County for 1990, that it is a <br /> one-year position, and that the Personnel Department be <br /> contacted before the position is implemented. On roll call <br /> vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />24. RIVERVIEW PLACE, Correspondence on taxation MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to receive and <br /> file a letter from the public regarding taxation of Riverview <br /> Place. Motion carried, Mr. Wieland will respond to the <br /> letter. <br /> <br />25. ISLAND PARK ACTIVITY CENTER <br />Mr. Eckert suggested that the Commission receive and file three <br />letters received since the last meeting regarding the Island Park <br />Activity Center. He said he understands more funding is needed to <br />operate the center., and he thinks the formula outlined in Mayor <br />Lindgren's letter of December 22 is fair. <br /> <br />Mrs. Toussaint said the Social Services Board needs to review all <br />non-mandated services and is waiting for a report from the Social <br />Services Director. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland suggested a letter- to Rev. Jorgen Vaage, President of <br />Lutheran Social Services, saying the County Commission will <br />continue a dialogue with them to help search for' answers on keeping <br />the center open. He will draft a letter for the Chairman's r'eview. <br /> <br />Mrs. Toussaint said she and Commissioner Shannon me't with Lutheran <br />Social Services representatives last Friday, and now they are <br />talking about a $27,000 deficit after receiving a $10,000 <br />contribution from the American Legion. MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to receive and <br /> file letters from Fargo Mayor Jori Lindgren dated December 22, <br /> from the Fargo City Commission dated December 18, and from <br /> Lutheran Social Services dated December 20. Motion carried. <br /> <br />26. DATA PROCESSING, Purchase of new control unit <br />Mike Steiner, Data ProcesSing Manager, recom~nended purchasing a new <br />control unit for $12,017, plus shipping, to allow for expansion to <br />the state computer system. The current controller was no longer <br />adequate to meet expanding needs of the County. Five departments <br />would pay for the equipment, based on their initial use of it. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to approve the <br /> request for funding for a new Cass County Control Unit to be <br /> paid by Social Services, Regional Child Support, Sheriff, <br /> States Attorney and Data Processing Departments as outlined <br /> in Mike Steiner's memo of December 29, 1989.
