Comm. Minutes--December 19, 1989 401

2. The size of the Cass County Social Services Board be
immediately reduced from nine members to seven members; and
3. Each of the five present Cass County Commissioners be
immediately appointed to positions on the Cass County Social
Services Board and that such appointments continue during the
term of their respective offices for further resolution of the
Board of Cass County Commissioners. Mr. Sondrall seconded the
motion. Mr. Wieland asked if the intent is that the other two
people be appointed at another point in time and that it could
be two of the people that have served on that board in the past.
Mrs. Toussaint said that is correct. At the call for the
question, the motion carried on roll call vote with all members
voting "Aye".

30. COMMISSION MEETING RECESSED, Meeting of Social Service Board
MOTION, passed
Mr. Shannon moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to recess the
County Commission meeting and that the five County
Commissioners convene as the Social Services Board. Motion
carried.

31. COMMISSION MEETING RECONVENED
The County Commission meeting reconvened, and committee reports were
given. Mr. Shannon commented on the cold air in the Courthouse halls
and hopes to address the problem in January, along with work on the
mechanical system.

32. SHERIFF DEPUTY, Request for vendin~ proceeds
Hr. Sondrall inquired into the request from Sheriff's Deputy Budd
Warren that the Commission consider donating revenue from soft drink
beverage machines in the Courthouse for a period of seven months
toward the 1990 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. The
revenue from all except one pop vending machine in the Courthouse
goes to the operator of the lunch counter and is part of that
operation. Revenue from one pop machine in the previous lunch room is
deposited in an employee's vending fund. Mr. Shannon suggested that
a letter be sent to Deputy Warren noting his worthwhile cause but
explaining that the money does not belong to the Commission to give
away.
MOTION, failed
Mr. Sondrall moved that the County contribute $100 for the
Special Olympics Torch Run. The motion failed for lack of
a second.

33. VECTOR CONTROL, MeetinR to be held December 21
Mr. Sondrall is unable to attend the December 21 meeting of the Cass
County Vector Control District. Mr. Eckert will attend in his place.

34. Mr. Berglie said he has made some
commitments to accept some people in the ISLA program making the
hiring necessary.
