Minutes--Dec. 5, 1989 392 MOTION, passed Mrs. Toussaint moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to continue paying Scott Kildahl through January 31, 1990, at the same hourly rate he was receiving as Acting Director of County Social Services. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. 19. SHERIFF DEPARTHENT, Revenue from soft drink beverage machines In a letter to the Commission, Deputy Sheriff Budd Warren requested the Commissioners to consider donating revenue generated from the soft drink beverage machines in the Courthouse during the months of December, 1989, and January through June next year, for the 1990 Law Enforcement Torch Run For Special Olympics. MOTION, failed Mr. Sondrall made a motion that the money be used for the purpose requested. However, the motion died for lack of a second. Mr. Shannon said the Commission should find out where this money has been going before the Commission allocates it. Chairman Eckert asked Mr. Sondra11 to investigate this. 20. COMPENSATORY TIME/OVERTIME, Update from States Attorney The States Attorney is continuing to review and resolve questions on whether FLSA exempt employees should receive compensatory time. In a letter to the Commission dated December 1, 1989, he recommended that the Social Services Board and the County Commission withhold final payment under the Labor Department's audit of Social Services until this has been resolved. 21. SALE OF TAX-FORFEITED LOTS, County Deeds siRned MOTION, passed Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded that the Chairman and the County Auditor be authorized to sign five County Deeds for property sold at the annual tax sale, and to cancel 1989 general taxes on these properties in the amount of $814.91. Motion carried. 22. RESIGNATION, Extension ARent MOTION, passed Mr. Shannon moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to receive ~and file the letter of resignation from County Extension Agent, Duane Hauck, who will become District Director for the Central District of the State Extension Service on January 1, 1990. Motion carried. 23. BENEFITS PROGRAH, Agreement with AFLAC to administer Section 125 MOTION, passed Hrs. Toussaint moved and Mr. Shannon seconded to authorize the Chairman to sign the agreement with American Family Life Assurance Company to administer a Section 125 flexible benefits program in Cass County. Motion carried. 24. FARGO CITY COMMISSION, Resolution on North Broadway Bridge Mike Montplaisir presented a copy of a resolution from Mark Thelen, Director of Finance for the City of Fargo, for annexing the North Broadway Bridge to the center of the river between the City of Fargo and Cass County.
