She contacted the State Labor Department and it <br />appears the County could be obligated to pay sick leave for two <br />years back in these cases. Mrs. Toussaint questioned why the <br />States Attorney was not notified if there is a law suit, and Ms. <br />Brumfield said these employees have only discussed it with her <br />but have not formally filed anything. She said she made some <br />preliminary calls to document the County if something comes of <br />it. Mr. Wieland suggested proceeding with adopting the policy <br />and allow time to consider making it retroactive. On roll call <br />vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />23. COURTHOUSE OFFICE SPACE, State Tax Department to vacate space <br />The Commission received notice that the State Tax Department wi]] <br />vacate office space in the basement of the South Wing November 30. <br /> <br />24. COURTHOUSE OFFICE SPACE, Personnel Department, Planner, State~ <br />Attorney Victim/Witness Advocates, Social Services MOTION, passed, <br /> Hrs. Toussaint moved and Hr. Wie]and seconded that the <br /> Personnel Department be moved into the office space being <br /> vacated November 30 by the State Tax Department in the <br /> basement of the South Wing; that the County Planner move to <br /> the Personnel Assistant's Office and the States Attorney's <br /> Victim/Witness Advocate Office be moved to the space <br /> vacated by the County Planner; and that the Chairman of the <br /> Commission send a letter to the Social Services Board <br /> notifying them that they may continue with their plans to <br /> use the Social Services Board Room for additional office <br /> space, if they so desire. On roll ca]] vote, the motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> <br />25. EMERGENCY 911 COORDINATION, Progress report <br />The Commission received a progress report of the E-911 Coordination <br />Committee from Earl Haugen, County Planner. <br /> <br />26. BOND ISSUE REFUNDING MOTION, passed <br /> Upon recommendation of the accountant, Mrs. Toussaint moved <br /> and Mr. Shannon seconded to allow Attorney Daniel Twichel] <br /> to proceed with refunding three bond issues from May 1, <br /> September 1 and November 1, 1984. Mr. Montplaisir said <br /> this will reduce special assessment bonds from 8 and 10 per <br /> cent to 6 per cent. Mr. Twichel] will prepare resolutions <br /> for the next Commission meeting. Motion carried. <br /> <br />27. SOCIAL SERVICES, Report on Wage and Hour Audit <br />Mrs. Toussaint, member of the Social Services Board, reported that <br />the Wage and Hour Audit is completed and the total amount owed by <br />Cass County is $37,430.47 payable January 31, 1990. Mr. Hoy said <br />Scott Kildahl is to be commended for his work in reducing the figure, <br />saving the County about $15,000. <br /> <br />28. SOCIAL SERVICES, Director's work plan, Community survival <br />Mr. Shannon asked if the County Commission wi]] be engaged in a work <br />p]an now that Tom Jensen has returned as Director of Social Services. <br />Mrs. Toussaint said Tom Jensen submitted a work plan that wi]] be <br />revised and acted on by the Social Services Board at their next <br />meeting, November 27.
