Comm. Hinutes--Nov. 21, 1989 381 <br /> <br />6. PLANNING DEPARTMENT, On-site sewer regulations MOTION, passed <br /> Upon recommendation of the Planning Commission, Mr. Shannon <br /> moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to approve establishment of <br /> a committee to review current on-site sewer regulations; <br /> the membership being in accordance with the draft furnished <br /> by County Planner Earl Haugen. Hotion carried. Mr. Haugen <br /> hopes to have the amended regulations in place by the next <br /> construction season. <br /> <br />7. Child Support Enforcement, Office remodeling approved <br />The Commission received a written proposal for remodeling the <br />Regional Child Support Enforcement Office. Accountant Mike <br />Montplaisir said Bonnie Johnson budgeted $25,000 for dividers and <br />furnishings, and actual remodeling costs would be paid from the <br />Building and Grounds budget after January 1, 1990. MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Shannon moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to approve <br /> remodeling the Regional Child Support Enforcement Office, <br /> subject to the space being formally occupied after January <br /> 1, 1990. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />8. ROAD DEPARTMENT, 1989 Project review <br />County Engineer Don Richards suggested a meeting between the <br />Commission and the Road Advisory Committee to review and tour 1989 <br />road projects. <br /> <br />9. ROAD DEPARTMENT, Closed Friday after Thanksqivinq <br />Don Richards said the Road Department has traditionally been closed <br />Friday after Thanksgiving, weather permitting, and employees have <br />taken the time off as a personal vacation day. Mr. Shannon said the <br />Benefits Committee met last week and addressed the issue of holiday <br />closing. If employees want to take a day of vacation Friday after <br />Thanksgiving, he said the intent of the committee is to allow offices <br />to close at the department heads' discretion providing their <br />telephone calls are transferred to a department that is open. The <br />Commission will be discussing a policy later in the meeting. <br /> <br />10. ROAD DEPARTMENT, New hire <br />Mr. Richards reported that interviews have been held and a selection <br />made to fill three positions, for which he will supply Salary and Pay <br />Grade forms for the Chairman's signature. Milton Burner will retire <br />in March, and Mr. Richards intends to hire a replacement from those <br />just interviewed. <br /> <br />11. VOTING EQUIPMENT, Contract for ballot reader <br />Mike Montplaisir presented a contract with American Information <br />Systems, Inc. for the purchase of a ballot reader for $50,000, the <br />cost to be divided equally between Cass County and the City of Fargo. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Sondrall moved and Hrs. Toussaint seconded that the <br /> Chairman be authorized to sign the contract with A.I.S., <br /> Inc. for the purchase of a ballot reader from the 1990 <br /> budget. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />
