Minutes--August 1, 1989 304 <br /> <br />HOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wteland moved and Mr. Shannon seconded to receive and <br />file the letter from Sheriff's staff, and place the item on <br />the August 15th agenda. Motion carried. <br /> <br />25, SOCIAL SERVICE BOARD & COUNTY COMNISSION, Exchange minutes <br />Mr. Wieland stated that in light of yesterday's discussion with the <br />County Social Services Board in regard to communication, it is <br />apparent that the two Boards are not aware of what the other is <br />doing. <br /> MOT~ON, passed <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Shannon seconded to send a copy <br /> of the minutes of future Cass County Commission meetings to <br /> every Social Service Board member at their home address, <br /> and to make a formal request to the Cass County Social <br /> Service Board and it's secretary that a copy of the minutes <br /> of future Social Service Board meetings be sent to every <br /> member of the Cass County Commission at their home address. <br /> Mr. Shannon reminded the Commissioners of Mrs. Toussaint's <br /> comment today that she has been trying to have things added <br /> to the Social Service Board minutes which she feels are <br /> pertinent. She indicated that the Social Service Board was <br /> specifically asked if they wanted to evaluate the Director, <br /> Tom Jensen, and they declined because of the time element. <br /> NK. Shannon felt that the Social Service Board minutes do <br /> not reflect enough detail, and Mrs. Toussaint stated that <br /> the minutes are the only document that the Social Service <br /> Board or County Commission can refer back to in case of <br /> questions. Motion carried. <br /> <br />26. PERSONNEL DIRECTOR, Office soace survey <br />Mr. Wieland reported that the committee for the selection of a <br />Personnel Director held a meeting, and he will be dealing with the <br />problem of where to physically locate this person. He suggested <br />sending a survey form to other County departments asking them to <br />assess their future space needs. Mr. Shannon stated that Glenn <br />Ellingsberg made an interesting observation to him about some type of <br />environmental impact statement between departments, and Mr. Shannon <br />suggested asking departments what their future staffing needs will <br />be. <br /> <br />27. SOCIAL SERVICES, Office space <br />Mr. Eckert stated that he has seen a plan for utilizing the Social <br />Service Board room for office space. Mr. Wieland stated that this <br />plan was devised when there appeared to be an urgent need for offices <br />in Social Services this spring. However, nothing has been done for <br />the past 5 months, and he suggested delaying it further until a <br />survey has been completed of other offices needing additional space. <br /> <br />28. SHERIFF'S RESIDENCE, Office space possibility <br />Mr. Shannon reminded the Commissioners that the Sheriff's Residence, <br />adjacent to the jail, is an asset of the County which could be made <br />into useable space and should not be ignored. <br /> <br />29, COUNTY RECORDS, Copyi~ charge <br />Mr. Shannon reported that he is still doing some research on copying <br />charges of County records. <br /> <br /> <br />
