Comm. Hinutes--May 2, 1989 248 <br /> <br />31. CLERK OF DISTRICT COURT, Application for stQte fundin~ <br />Mr. Wieland reported on legislation providing that counties may apply <br />to the State of North Dakota for the Clerk of District Court office <br />to be under the jurisdiction of the State, and at the State's <br />expense. He stated that there is no funding at present but the State <br />will accept applications on a first come, first serve basis when <br />funding becomes available. He also stated that the County may <br />withdraw its application if found at a later time that it is not in <br />the best interests of the County. MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Hieland moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that Cass <br /> County apply to the State of North Dakota for the Clerk of <br /> District Office to be under the jurisdiction of the State, <br /> and at the State's expense. Mr. Shannon asked why the <br /> State would do this, and Mr. Hieland felt it is a move <br /> toward unification of the Court system. He stated that <br /> Dorothy Howard, Clerk of District Court, has some concerns <br /> but not about passing the motion today because of the <br /> option to withdraw. Hr. Shannon asked if there is a <br /> deadline for withdrawing, and Mr. Hieland stated that there <br /> is not because there is no funding at this time. At the <br /> call for the question and upon roll call vote, the motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> <br />32. RAFFLE PERMIT, Northern Plains Rabbit Breeders Assn. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Sondrall moved and Hr. Shannon seconded to approve the <br /> application for a raffle permit for the Northern Plains <br /> Rabbit Breeders Association to be held at the Red River <br /> Valley Fairgrounds on the date of October 28, 1989. Motion <br /> carried. <br /> <br />33. VOUCHERS, Approved MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Shannon moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to take from <br /> the table the motion to approve the bills. Motion carried. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Hr. Wieland moved and Hr. Shannon seconded to amend the <br /> motion for approval of bills subject to the personal <br /> approval of Chairman Eckert on two items. Hotion carried. <br /> On the motion to approve payment of Vouchers No. 2,428- <br /> 3,186, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />34. LOST INSTRUMENT BONDS, Approved MOTION, passed <br /> Hr. Shannon moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to receive <br /> and file Indemnity Bonds on Lost Instruments for Todd Holm, <br /> Geraldine Johnson, Cleo Delzer, and Carol Spichke; and <br /> authorize the County Auditor to issue duplicate checks. <br /> On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. The <br /> Commission asked the Auditor to provide a figure on what it <br /> costs for cancelling these checks. <br /> <br /> <br />
