Comm. Minutes--April 18, 1989 235 <br /> <br />23. COUNTY ATLASES, Purchased <br />Mr. Charles Tobin, President of Midland Atlas Co., Inc. of Milbank, <br />South Dakota, presented the Commissioners with an updated Cass County <br />Atlas. Mr. Shannon asked if he could add a page to correct the list <br />of County officials and include names of officials not presently <br />listed. He stated that he could add a paste-on page without any <br />problem at no additional cost, but it would take about two weeks <br />time. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Hr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to order 85 <br /> Cass County Atlases at a cost of $40.18 each, with the list <br /> of County officials being made current. On roll call vote, <br /> the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />24. ROAD DEPARTMENT, Bids awarded <br />County Engineer Don Richards stated that he and Steve Grindberg <br />reviewed the bids received earlier today for equipment and annual <br />requirements. Mr. Richards recommended accepting all bids for the <br />annual requirements and authorize the Road Department to use those <br />bids in the best interest of the County. He further recommended <br />accepting the low bids for equipment and the low bids for culverts <br />for a grading project. Mr. Shannon noted that these are project <br />items for which funds were allocated in the budget. MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Sondrall moved and Hr. Shannon seconded to accept all <br /> bids on annual requirements according to the Engineer's <br /> recommendation to use the bids in the County's best <br /> interest at the time of purchase. On roll call vote, the <br /> motion carried unanimously. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Shannon moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to accept the <br /> low bid of Nelson International for two trucks at a total <br /> cost of $99,097.18; and to accept the low bid of Sweeney <br /> Brothers Tractor for a tractor with dozer at a total cost <br /> of $131,124.00. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br /> unanimously. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> On the bids for structural plate pipe and culverts for a <br /> grading project, Mr. Shannon moved and Mr. Sondrall <br /> seconded to accept the low bid of Contech Construction <br /> Company for Item 1 in the amount of $7,630.00 and Item 2 in <br /> the amount of $10,415.00; and to accept the low bid of <br /> Fargo Culvert Company for Item 3 in the amount of $6,572.00 <br /> and Item 4 in the amount of $10,497.10. On roll call vote, <br /> the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />25. DISASTER EMERGENCY MANAGER, Flood report & Disaster Declaration <br />Glenn Ellingsberg, Disaster Emergency Hanager, reported that the <br />Federal Emergency Management Agency will be in Cass County on <br />April 24th to begin looking at damages caused by recent flooding. He <br />requested that the Chairman sign a "Declaration of a Disaster" in the <br />hope that the State of North Dakota will obtain a Presidential <br />Disaster Declaration which would allow the County to receive some <br />reimbursement for damages.
