CLEANING SERVICES, continue contract with PBS at this time
Mr. Peter Xenides from Professional Building Services, Inc. appeared
before the Board to request renewal of his contract with Cass County
for cleaning services in the Courthouse at no increase in price.
According to his annual survey of Courthouse employees, he stated
that the cleaning services were rated an average of 8.2 on a scale of
one to ten. States Attorney Robert Hoy reviewed the contract and
stated that it is an annual contract through July 7, 1989, which will
continue beyond that year if the County does not re-bid. There is a
provision where it can be cancelled by either party upon 30 days
written notice. Mr. Hoy stated that this type of contract, by law,
does not have to be let on bids although the contract has been bid in
the past. Mr. Sondrall stated that he would like to continue the
present contract for the time being and intends to visit each office
and with Alton Johnson, Maintenance Supervisor, about the services.
MOTION, passed
Mr. Sondrall moved and Mr. Shannon seconded to continue the
cleaning services on the same basis as currently.
Mr. Wieland commended Professional Building Services for
their work. CLEANING SERVICES, Q~her firms reouest bids
Mr. Shannon hoped the Commission would consider a bid process for the
Courthouse cleaning services. He noted the interest in annual Road
Department bids this morning. Other parties were present who are
interested in the cleaning business., Charles Huck with Pride
Professional and John Erickson with J.P. Cleaning Services. They
encouraged the County to call for bids. It was the consensus of the
cleaning contractors present today that the County should develop a
set of specifications so bids can be prepared on an equal basis.
