194

Mr. Wieland informed the Commissioners that February 22nd is
Government Day at the State Legislature in Bismarck. Mr. Sondrall
stated that he will be attending a solid waste meeting in Lisbon at
that time.

Mrs. Toussaint stated that the January 24, 1989, Commission
minutes reflect that a data processing report is being prepared.
Motion was made by Mrs. Toussaint and seconded by Mr. Sondrall that
County department heads be asked to submit to the Commission Secretary
their evaluation of the County's long range plan and their opinion on
the data processing services; and that a data processing report be
given to the Commission by Richard Offutt at the March 21st meeting,
with the deadline of receiving it ten days prior to the meeting or
March 10th. Motion carried.

In regard to a memo from Richard Offutt stating that Grand Forks
County is interested in some software, Mr. Wieland suggested that
Commissioher Toussaint and Richard Offutt discuss the options with the
States Attorney and come back to the Commission with a recommendation.

Mr. Shannon moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded that the Chairman
send by registered mail, letters to former Commissioners Larson and
Stanton thanking them for their time and effort while serving on
boards to which they were appointed because they were, at the time,
elected County Commissioners. Boards specifically involved are the
Cass County Social Services Board, the Cass County Building Authority,
and any other Boards to which they were assigned. These letters should
also enclose appropriate letters of resignation from each board on
which they were serving, to be executed and returned to the Auditor
before February 21, 1989. The letters should also remind them to
promptly return to the Auditor, all County property including keys.
Discussion followed.

In the way of background information, Mr. Shannon referred to past
Commission minutes whereby Commissioners' terms on the County Social
Services Board terminated with their term on the County Commission.
Mrs. Stanton was present and stated that she does not intend to resign
from the Social Service Board. Concerning the Building Authority, she
stated that she intends to check the By-Laws before signing a letter of
resignation but presumes her position there expired at the end of her
Commission term. On roll call vote, the mdtion carried unanimously.

Mr. Sondrall moved and Mr. Wieland seconded that Cass County
contribute $60.00 to the North Dakota Association of Counties for a
legislative social on February 21, 1989, at'the Bismarck Holiday Inn.
On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.

Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded
state travel for Bev Bohn and Kathy Suedel to
February 16, 1989.
