<br />Commission Minutes-September 19, 2005 2980 <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Sorum moved and Mr. Wagner seconded that the Cass County Board <br />of Commissioners approve a donation to the National Association of <br />Counties program called 'Counties Helping Counties in the Wake of <br />Hurricane Katrina" in the amount of $1,500, which is the anticipated <br />balance in the county's contingency fund. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried with four members voting "Aye" and Mr. Pawluk opposing. <br /> <br />13. VOUCHERS, Approved <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to approve Voucher No. <br />200,667 through No. 201,127. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />14. Meeting updates; North Dakota Legislative Council Hearing; Cass County Youth <br />Commission; Jail Consulting; North Dakota Association of Counties Convention; <br />Local Governance Committee; Personnel Policy on Expense Reimbursement; <br />Waste Management, Committee reports <br />Commissioners and staff reported on meetings they have attended in the past two weeks, <br />as well as upcoming meetings. <br /> <br />Bonnie Johnson, County Coordinator, reported on a risk management meeting sponsored <br />by the North Dakota Association of Counties. Also, a mandatory Workforce Safety training <br />seminar is scheduled on October 4th for all Cass County department heads and employees. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson reminded commissioners the North Dakota Legislative Council's interim <br />budget committee on government services will be holding a hearing and conducting a tour <br />in Fargo on September 21st at 9:00 AM in the training room of the Cass County Jail on state <br />corrections issues. <br /> <br />The newly formed Cass County Youth Commission begins their program for the school year <br />this Wednesday, September 21 ; and Mrs. Johnson has a PowerPoint presentation for the <br />group. Mrs. Sorum will be preparing some remarks on commission duties. Mr. Burdick said <br />the county committee responsible for organizing the youth commission would like each of <br />the county commissioners to stop by for a brief visit so the students can meet them. <br /> <br />Commissioners were reminded that Jim Rowenhorst, Consultant, is scheduled to meet <br />informally with Cass County officials on September 27 and 29, 2005, at 7:30 AM in the <br />Commission Room, Cass County Courthouse. The purpose of the meetings is to discuss <br />jail operations prior to the jail expansion project. <br /> <br />All commissioners plan to attend the North Dakota Association of Counties Convention in <br />Bismarck at the Ramkota Hotel on October 9-11,2005. Mr. Vanyo said he serves on the <br />resolutions committee and will be meeting Sunday afternoon at the start of the convention to <br />finalize the list of proposed resolutions. <br /> <br />Mr. Montplaisir reported the Local Governance Advisory Study Committee has begun <br />meeting with various county departments, and their next meeting is scheduled for 8:00 AM <br />on October 6th at the Cass County Jail to discuss sheriff department and jail operations. <br />
