AUDITOR'S OFFICE, Quit Claim Deed for property in Erie Township <br />Michael Montplaisir, County Auditor, requested the addition of a quit claim deed to the <br />consent agenda. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Bennett moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to authorize the commission <br />chairman to sign a Quit Claim Deed to William and Tammy Smith for <br />property in Erie Township that the Smith's bought back from Cass County. <br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />12. INFORMATION SERVICES, Bids for computer eauipment purchases <br />Mr. Montplaisir asked to add this item to the consent agenda as bids were received today for <br />the purchase of computers and monitors for various county departments. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Bennett moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to award the bid for <br />computers and monitors to Dell Computer and to authorize the chairman to <br />sign the purchase order, according to the recommendation of Michael <br />Montplaisir, County Auditor. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />13. ROAD DEPARTMENT, Ratify Road Advisory action on Pleasant Township Bridae <br />Mr. Berndt asked the board to ratify action taken earlier today by the Cass County Road <br />Advisory Committee to proceed with a replacement bridge in Pleasant Township. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Bennett moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to ratify Road Advisory <br />Committee action authorizing the county engineer to proceed with <br />construction of a new bridge between Sections 10 and 15, Pleasant <br />Township, contingent upon receipt of $150,000 in private contributions <br />toward the project. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />14. NORTH DAKOTA ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES, Information Services contract <br />Mr. Montplaisir provided background information on the North Dakota Association of Counties <br />and the services their information technology staff is providing for the county. He introduced <br />Joe Kramer and Terry Schmaltz, who have been providing much of the assistance in Cass <br />County, and they explained the projects which were completed last year. <br /> <br />The request on today's agenda is for the chairman to sign a Memorandum of Understanding <br />for the North Dakota Association of Counties to provide eight hours of local technical support <br />to Cass County each week from January 1 through June 30, 2003, at a cost of $11 ,440.00. <br /> <br />Mr. Montplaisir next introduced Kathy Johnson and her son, Allen Johnson, who own a <br />company called internetSeniors, a North Dakota non-profit organization. Their mission is to <br />acquire used computers and related equipment to be refurbished and resold, based on <br />income, to fixed-income seniors, low-income families, and people on disability. They <br />contacted the auditor about the possibility of the county donating used computers to them. <br /> <br />Mr. Vanyo asked if there are quite a number of organizations doing this type of business and <br />what support, if any, the Johnson's offer after a sale. Mrs. Johnson responded that she is <br />aware of a national organization offering computers to senior citizens. As far as support, Mr. <br />Johnson responded that he refurbishes the computers to be sure they are in good working <br />condition and guarantees them for 60-90 days. <br />
